WIBU to take DS2 (1) to soft play with a mystery rash?

DS2 had a slight temperature, snotty nose and grotty temper on Monday. Monday evening he had a slight pinprick rash on his torso, which got worse on Tuesday. His temperature was normal and his mood vastly improved though.

I showed the rash to a pharmacist, who recommended we see the GP. We did so, and the GP said it's a virus, impossible to tell which one but it's definitely NOT chicken pox or scarlet fever. He said we should avoid pregnant women to be on the safe side.

Today the rash is starting to fade, and is completely covered by his clothes. DS2 obviously feels fine, and DS1 (5) is starting to get cabin fever as it's half term.

The weather is too wet to go to a park, but DS1 wants to go out somewhere to play.

WIBU to go to a soft play centre? I feel that DS2 was probably only infectious before the rash appeared.

We haven't been to soft play yet, by the way. I am prepared to tell DS2 we're staying in with DVDs if the majority would be horrified at seeing a spotty child in the baby area at soft play...

I would! If he has no temperature and is ok in himself it could just be a random rash or a bit of heat rash

LittleBearPad · 28/05/2014 09:38

If you're meant to be avoiding pregnant women then I think you shouldn't go to soft play.

Feminine · 28/05/2014 09:38

I wouldn't, not until the rash has totally gone.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 28/05/2014 09:39

I wouldn't but I always err on the side of caution anyway.

ooerrmissus · 28/05/2014 09:40

No. You don't know that he's not still infectious and your little one could be brewing the same virus too,

Put wellies and anoraks on and go puddle jumping instead.

RachelWatts · 28/05/2014 09:43

DS2 can't walk. Puddle jumping is a rubbish activity for him!

OK, we'll put off soft play till later in the week, when the rash will hopefully have gone.

YABU just to consider going to soft play, with or without a rash. It is probably where he got the rash in the first place Confused

Fattyfattyyumyum · 28/05/2014 13:13

I would go

TravellingToad · 28/05/2014 13:16

I would go. He was probably more infectious before the rash appeared.

Guitargirl · 28/05/2014 13:51

I would go too, kids at soft-play are brewing all kinds of things! It was probably a random virus which is now over.

HelenHen · 28/05/2014 14:29

I hate seeing Sick kids at soft play and think it's incredibly selfish of parents Sad

Sorry I know it's tough but leave it another day or two!
