To have changed the sheets as DH is away tonight?

He rarely goes away. I can't wait to get into my lovely clean bed and read my book until I fall asleep. And then read in the middle of the night when I wake up. Without him lying there 'breathing'.

Oh wait! Who will bring me my tea in the morning?

DH works 4 night 4 off 4 days 4 off.

I always change the sheets on the first day of 4 working ( weather nights or days only because it feels too long between just nights )

I rest night of nights has to be the pure cotton Egyptian sheets. Warm bath nice talc book and stretchhhhhhhh.

Bliss

if you want nice clean sheets all to yourselves each night get divorced

thebodylovesspring · 27/05/2014 16:23

And no let me cuddle your back up aka are you up for it as I am, obviously! ! Grin

frostyfingers · 27/05/2014 16:26

I've always said that if I won the lottery one of my luxuries would be having freshly laundered bed linen at least twice a week. More than that and I think the novelty might wear off, but I'd be prepared to try!

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 27/05/2014 16:29

Ooh - I do it too (thought it was just me)!

Even if the clean sheets have only been on the bed for two days, very fresh sheets for my own use only are utterly delightful and I always do it!

Pile the pillows up, spread out, watch TV (with the sound turned up) or read until 2:00am, without having to listen to moaning and snoring (and breathing). Grin Mug of Horlicks and a choccy biccy (or glass of wine and a bit of cheese) - sheer BLISS!!

gaggiagirl · 27/05/2014 16:30

DP is on nights this week but I'll leave the sheets as they are cos they will smell of him Blush he smells nice.

I will however have a bath. Eat rubbish and read in the middle of the bed.

dashoflime · 27/05/2014 16:34

YANBU!
DH was away at the weekend. I not only had fresh sheets- I also immediately deflowered them with crumbs from my Cheese and Tuna Toasty!
Wahahahahaha!!!

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 27/05/2014 16:34

DP's pillows tend to encroach on my area (ie - on my head, suffocating me) and I bump into his knobbly knee joints (which can be quite painful).

Not grounds for divorce, but bloomin' annoying! Grin

Wrcgirl · 27/05/2014 16:42

I don't understand....dh always washes/showers before bed. I love to hear him breathing peacefully next to me. And I hate sleeping in a room alone, I have shared bedrooms since a child.

I admit some men (and women) snore or have breathing problems, that could be annoying!

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 27/05/2014 16:52

Wrcgirl breathing peacefully - if only!!

My DP always showers/bathes before bed. Doesn't stop him snoring (very loudly) or suffocating me with his pillows, and it doesn't soften his knobbly limbs, or stop him moaning if I want to read or eat cheese and choccy biccies.

I love him dearly, but occasionally, it is so wonderful to have the bed to yourself Smile

Thurlow · 27/05/2014 16:54

I don't think I'd cope if DP ever went back to a 9-5 job. It'd be awful. Now I have 4 nights out of 10 alone, evenings included, so I can watch all the crap I want and sleep peacefully starfished in a kingsize bed without him snoring and grinding his teeth next to me...

themummyonthebus · 27/05/2014 17:02

Why on earth did I never think of this? He's off next week, better make sure he's washed the spare set of bedding before he goes

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 27/05/2014 17:07

My daughter moved out to set up home with her boyfriend about a year ago. She is clearly in love, but every now and again she spends the night here, at home, in her own bed, because he is SO restless. She has a lovely home-cooked meal, slobs about in her PJs, raids the chocolate cupboard, watches what she wants on TV, gets a good night's sleep and wakes up all happy and refreshed.

(And that's after only one year). DP and I have been together for 27 - no wonder I look forward to a night on my own from time to time Grin

I do this. DP is away a few nights a month for work, sometimes 5 days and I love a hot bath, clean sheets and a good book. I do miss him terribly, but he comes back all refreshed from hotel sleeps without children and I get to sleep like a starfish. We get on better for the break! The DC miss him too much though.

cardamomginger · 27/05/2014 19:17

YANBU. Me too. DH showers in the morning, whilst I always shower at night, because I like to come to bed clean, so I REALLY appreciate it when he is away and it's all clean and nice and how I like it. (I know the world is divided on this topic with everyone who does one thing thinking the rest of us who do the other are load of stinky old mingers.)

weatherall · 27/05/2014 19:19

Is no one going to mention the opportunity for some alone fun?
