To expect ds2 to have packed up his stuff before dh arrived to collect him?

Dh went to collect ds2 from his university halls today - to help bring back all the bulky/heavy stuff like his printer, bedding, kitchen stuff, crockery etc.

This was arranged about a week ago, and so, in our innocence, dh and I assumed ds2 might have all, or most of his stuff packed up, ready to go, when dh got there. Oh how wrong we were. The only things that had been packed were 4 cans of cider. Dh and ds1, who'd driven over (for some driving practice) packed more of ds2's stuff than ds2 did.

I think that, next summer, we will insist on him sending us a photo of his room, all packed up, before we'll set off to get him!

Excellent idea.

Tbh honest the first time my parents came to collect me I was woefully ill preprared. I didn't know that the only lockable storage would be filled at least a week in advance and I didn't have enough suitcase for my stuff. So I wisely decided to fix the problem by going on a bender for a full day and a night. My parents arrived to find a room full of crap and a hung over/still drunk daughter who hadn't got any clean clothes to wear and had only got 2 hours sleep.

Let him get away with it once then lay down the law.

Of course he should have packed stuff he wanted your DH to take home. Next time tell him that you will only be transporting packed items. He will have to bring unpacked items home himself even if it is two or three train journeys.

No idea where she thinks it's all going till September.
