Yappy puppy in hairdressers

MrsCampbellBlack · 23/05/2014 18:44

I have had a stressful week so accept I am probably unreasonable.

So having hair done today and another customer has brought her puppy whilst she has her colour and cut done. The puppy was bored and so did a lot of barking and it was a very shrill bark.

Then lady having nails done puts peppa pig on her iPad at full volume for her toddler to watch.

So, was I just being grumpy or do people think its a little inconsiderate to take puppies into hairdressers?

I think hairdressers are pretty noisy places anyway

trashcanjunkie · 23/05/2014 18:48

Nah that would boil my piss. I can totally block out hairdryers and inane droning from staff, but those two noises would set my nerves right on edge. I am probably unreasonable too though Grin I like to go and relax at the hairdressers.

MrsCampbellBlack · 23/05/2014 18:48

I guess, although this one isn't particularly. I just felt it was very inconsiderate behaviour but I did have a headache which didn't help.

MintyChops · 23/05/2014 18:52

Fuck that, I have to listen to barking and bloody Peppa Pig at home, I'm damned well not going to listen to it during what is meant to be a treat. Selfish bastards. YANBU, I would have been pissed off.

whitepuddingsupper · 23/05/2014 19:06

I stopped going to a hairdresser because the owner and stylist brought her own dog to work and kept it crated in a corner, she spent so much time fannying about attending to the bloody dog that I was waiting for almost an hour past the appointment time once. Her salon went out of business and no wonder, totally unprofessional behaviour.

pigsDOfly · 23/05/2014 19:13

Isn't going to the hairdresser supposed to leave you feeling better, relaxed and all brand new.

Sounds appalling. I'd be finding a new place to have my hair done, one that doesn't resemble a poodle parlour.

MrsShortfuse2 · 23/05/2014 19:17

YANBU. That would have driven me fecking nuts. Find a new hairdresser and tell them why.

MrsCampbellBlack · 23/05/2014 19:20

I did say to my lovely stylist that the dog was annoying and she agreed. Think I may mention it to the manager if it happens again.

Also seemed unfair on the admittedly cute puppy.

Thanks for all your opinions.

I'd expect that from a hairdresser but I want more of a pampering and me time when I go do now I visit a pricier place that is more treatments and spa like.

samsam123 · 23/05/2014 19:56

perhaps she couldnt find anyone to puppy sit

KingJoffreysBloodshotEye · 23/05/2014 19:58

I'd have left.

MrsItsNoworNotatAll · 23/05/2014 20:04

It would've pissed me off and I like Dogs

Bogeyface · 23/05/2014 20:11

perhaps she couldnt find anyone to puppy sit

Then she should have cancelled her appointment. Selfish arses like this really get on my tits.

dexter73 · 23/05/2014 20:12

YANB at all U. Who wants to listen to a puppy yapping and Peppa Pig when they are trying to relax at the hairdressers? I like dogs and have one but yapping is so annoying.

22honey · 23/05/2014 20:21

I'd never attempt to take my dog to a hairdressers, what was the owner of the dog thinking??!

I don't go to the salon to relax tbh, the salon I go to (because the stylist is amazing and never had a better cut, shes expensive though) is really busy and noisy and tbh all I want is to get in there, get a good cut and get out. I do find beauty treatments relaxing though. I also hate being talked to whilst having my hair cut, I am training in hair and beauty myself and they actually tell you you need to yap away to clients, yet I and plenty of other people I know hate being talked to!

Montegomongoose · 23/05/2014 20:21

No definitely not U.

I adore dogs but I'd have asked for that one to be tied to a lamppost.

You are there for the peace as much as shiny new hair.

The iPad would have got a stamping too.

Who takes a puppy to the hairdressers? That is ridiculous. I adore my dog but i would never take her to the hairdressers. I wait until someone can look after her before making an appointment.

QuintessentiallyQS · 23/05/2014 21:00

Much better if she brought a pet pig to the hairdressers, cute, and no bark. It would possibly amuse toddlers more than peppa pig would. Win Win.

CatsCantTwerk · 23/05/2014 21:03

I would have been pissed off with that. yanbu at all.

My hairdresser (the owner) lets her chihuahua wander round the salon. Its a cute little thing and well behaved. I don't have a problem with that, but its a bit rude of customers to bring their own dogs!

PowderMum · 24/05/2014 06:37

YANBU I would have said something first to my stylist and then if I'd had a bad week probably to the owner and parent. Then if it was possible I would have walked out but then I'm not very tolerant of inconsiderate people. I certainly would not be going back.
I like dogs but not yappy ones and not in hairdressers.
I struggle to understand why parents think it is appropriate to bring their children everywhere with them and then expect everyone to love them and their inappropriate or bad behaviour. In my mind using an ipad as a babysitter is one thing but playing on it with the sound on is just rude and shows that the parent is selfish.
My hairdresser has one client with a son who she always insisted bringing with her, when he was small he would whine in the pushchair, then as he got bigger he started to run riot, I asked if the mother had a regular appointment and made sure I avoided it.

MrsCampbellBlack · 24/05/2014 07:08

You have all made me laugh, pet pigs and toddlers tied to lampposts.
