To think charging full price for a 12 week old into soft play is ridiculous?!

Soft play date today with DSs 1&2 (2 and 3 months). We met up with 5 other toddlers. I couldn't believe it when they charged for DS2 at all never mind full price. Anywhere I've been before I've noticed that under 1s are free. All he did was have a little feed and a sleep! AIBU to think this is a bit much?

Easy way to narrow down which soft plays to go to imo.

jeanmiguelfangio · 23/05/2014 18:39

YANBU I mean it wasn't like he was playing much, and surely you had paid full price for your 2 year old, so you werent there just for him.

Sarahplane · 23/05/2014 18:40

Yanbu at all. Definitely one to avoid in future

marleymooo · 23/05/2014 18:41

There were no signs with prices so I just kinda stood there open mouthed and handed it over.

yanbu - everywhere round here is free for under 12mo

however, on the posh side of town there's a soft play where they charge separately for the adults, which strikes me as ridiculous

mewkins · 23/05/2014 20:57

I hate it when soft play charges for babies and adults. Total rip off. Boycott it.

emsyj · 23/05/2014 21:02

YANBU, although there is a soft play near us that charges for adults and babies... It is lovely though, and almost new, and HUGE, and they do have a very nice baby area... so very very occasionally we do pay up.

LadyWithLapdog · 23/05/2014 21:03

I'd understand a small charge. You'd be changing nappies and throwing them away at the soft play centre, messing about with food (ok, not 3 months old but soon enough), asking for hot water etc. So general cleaning of the inherent mess a baby leaves behind.

We have one near us which charges an annual membership fee and then also charged for adults, the first time I went it was £18 for me and 2 children fgs!

Changing full price for babies is ridiculous.

naty1 · 23/05/2014 21:39

Lady makes some good points
But really it should be along the lines of adults. Until at least 6m. I wouldnt really dare put 3m old down in one.

AndHarry · 23/05/2014 22:08

YANBU that's really silly. The one near us charges for adults but I understand that because before when they didn't there were ridiculous groups of people with 4+ adults to one child in the playframe.

Ewieindwie1 · 23/05/2014 22:10

Mad. Don't go again.

x2boys · 23/05/2014 22:17

I don't think I ever got charged for ds2 when he was a baby and ds1 was three. I would not have expected it either as he wasn't actually playing on anything.

passmethewineplease · 23/05/2014 22:19

YANBU, I've never been charged for ds2 he's six months.. Don't actually know when ours start charging.
