Not the man wearing one, obviously they are all individuals and sexy in their own right and their mothers love them But the whole look, especially when taken to extremes of irony. Is it a thing like dungarees or Uggs for women, that people do for comfort and lack of hassle, and don't care what the opposite sex thinks? Or is there a total PHWOAR factor that I am missing?

Urk. Any beard is just minging. A bit of stubble, that can be sexy. Beards though? Shudder.

My DP is a bit beardy, and I love it. Facial hair is very sexy on him (and without it he looks like a fresh faced child). Hipster beards leave me cold, though. It's not even the beard itself, it's the daft head shaved at the sides quiff, skinny jeans, and wifebeater vest that the beard is combined with. Granted, I may be biased, as my sister's odious prick of an ex sported all the above as a uniform. So when I see a hipster beard, all I can picture is that little shitebag.

I love beards. DH uses a nice beard oil so I get his sandalwood smelling beard when he kisses me goodbye in the morning. Love it.

imo full-on beards (not goaties) on good looking young guys are hideous and spoil their looks. Victoria Beckham and husband realise this thankfully

Otoh if a man has a bad jawline, it helps to create an illusion, so ok.

The only hipster beard I like is Conchita's from Eurovision - that's where it belongs, on stage, in an ironic or unusual context!

I don't think I've seen my DH without one, in 32 years. He has silver in his now - I agree, it's distinguished, and masculine.

Ick. I hate beards and facial in general. DH has no facial hair, but he looks pretty funny when he grows it too.

Not to be crude, but wouldn't it be kinda awkward for a guy in a beard to go down on you? I mean, they'd have to shampoo it or something afterwards, wouldn't they?

I do prefer the 'metaller' look rather than the fecking hipster look though.

I find beards very sexy personally, but I'm not really understanding what makes one a 'hipster' as that link had lots of different styles all under the same header (including some guys with no beards at all!)

There are some interesting hair/bear styles around though, there's a guy at work with a long very well coiffured beard and a short back and sides type haircut, which I think looks a bit odd. Perhaps that's the Tsar Nicolas II look, although googling that looks much more mustache orientated than the guy at work - I think he is more of a 'viking'

My neighbour has a great zz top kind of beard (red) with a bald head, he looks very cool :) dh I prefer just shaggy - I find the 'bear' look very attractive. Some people (like Brad Pitt) grow terrible beards and should not be allowed

My DP has a 'hipster beard' not everyone's cup of tea but he can carry it off I guess, some women go mad for it though there's a whole breed of women who obsess over tattooed men with beards! Prob why he will end up keeping it forever! Been 4 years now

Ooh gawd yes! Live in a neighbourhood with loads of hipsters and it a most cheering sight. There are always loads of 'tsars' about...

However dh is crap at growing beards and has a job where he may not grow a beard...

I do not like beards of any kind. And big bushy ones actually make me feel sick. Not sure why - I'm sure the owners are just lovely - it's just a gut reaction!

I dislike beards. OH grows one because he is lazy and can't be arsed to shave but I really dislike the look and PrincessBabyCat has it spot on. It does impact on your sex life. If I can keep my fanjo hair free then he should be able to keep his face under control!

Plus when OH is clean shaven he looks a good 15 years younger! :)

I like beards long enough to plait.

Oh, I wish I was younger, just for this, or that my dh would shake off some of his 70/80's aesthetic for this trend.

OK if you have a weak chin or get spotty if you shave or want to hide acne. Clean shaven otherwise, I've never dated a bloke with a beard

I personally prefer a groomed beard, like the Eurovision one, unless it is on Noel Edmonds.

I am intrigued by the long ones that start under the eyes, they are a bit too extreme.I like the manly lumberjack look rather than sad tight jeaned hipster.

DP can only grow stubble because he has to be clean shaven for work
