to ask you who to complain to about a car dealer?

Long story short, we bought a car from a main dealer with an extended warranty in October. It's been in and out of the garage recently because of various faults. The dealership have been appalling - dishonest, patronising, rude and incompetent, whilst making out that they're doing us a favour type thing, really shocking customer service.

Picked up the car (again) today with 12 week old dd in tow. I'd agreed a time with them but when we got there they made us wait...and wait... as members of staff leant against their desks chatting to each other. If they'd been ready, I'd have had time to get dd into the car and home before she woke up and needed a feed. But she woke up while we were waiting and started to scream. Hostile eyes everywhere. Normally I breastfeed in public with no problems but I felt very uncomfortable. I asked reception if they could please hurry up as I needed to feed my baby (staff still milling around chatting).

They did start to hurry up as I frantically rocked her and tried to soothe her, but not before being asked if I "might feel more comfortable waiting for my car in the disabled toilet" and then if I would mind stepping outside as it was hard to hear the phones. I refused to budge and the car magically appeared within a minute.

She was only crying for about 3 minutes but it felt like much longer as people glared at us. I fed her as soon as I got to my car - much to the dismay of the manager who for some reason decided to peer through the window! Quite funny really.

Anyway, I want to complain and get a satisfactory response and apology for all the hassle and rudeness I've experienced. Any ideas who to contact? I've already tried complaining to the dealership and they just do not care.

I would tweet the head office website, funny how things are dealt with quickly when you tweet. You were treated appealingly.

What sort of cars do they sell?

Go above them to ford/Vauxhall/Citroen etc

mindthegap79 · 22/05/2014 21:39

Ooh good idea - I've never tweeted but it does seem to be a great way of spreading a message very quickly! Will write to their head office too I think. Still enrages me just thinking about it!

I remember people on here tweeting companies on here and getting quick responses straight away. Try that! Find the dealer on twitter and tweet

Or if it's a ford, tweet ford uk for example.

I'm afraid to say it's the type of car that everyone hates - 3 letter name. However I promise that I never tailgate, I give way and I use both indicators Grin

I'd contact Consumer Direct for advice. Aka Trading Standards

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 22/05/2014 21:55

Yep tweet head office.

Aeroflotgirl · 22/05/2014 22:01
