they now appear to play videos right off the bat as you're scrolling down the page - the video that started playing was absolutely disgusting and I have reported it. I also want to message 'friend' who shared it on their page to basically say 'hey, don't share this sick stuff, you're just showing it to everyone else and that is something i do not want to see!'

Do people just not get that by sharing these videos that they're not going to stop this happening?! But are actually subjecting other people to seeing this; I actually feel sick; and not doing anything at all to stop it.

Sorry if I am not making much sense; I am just so shocked at it Sad Angry

In the upper right hand corner is a small arrow pointing down. Click on that and go to "settings." A menu will appear on the left, "videos," is the last item. Click on that and change "Auto-play Videos" from "on" to "off."

I don't know if this works on your phone, but it does on your computer.

Kerberos · 22/05/2014 20:17

You can switch it off. It's in FB settings.

And defriend anyone who puts stuff on FB that makes you feel uncomfortable.

iamdivergent · 22/05/2014 20:21

thank you; now turned off

You can also turn it off in your phone settings if you have an iphone!

steff13 · 23/05/2014 02:16

I was able to turn them off in my Android FB app, after I checked on here.

ShelaghTurner · 23/05/2014 02:39

Thank you. This has been driving me loopy and have just turned it off in iphone settings. Hallelujah!

vvviola · 23/05/2014 02:46

I have it switched off on mine, but it still did it (I clicked to read the post, but didn't want to view the video). Very annoying.

HypodeemicNerdle · 23/05/2014 07:47

How can you switch it off on iphone? I've been trying but can't work it out Blush

One of my 'friends' shared an awful video a few days ago. It'd be nice not to have to see that shit again

ToAvoidConversation · 23/05/2014 07:53

sexypantsformum · 23/05/2014 07:58

How do you do it on a HTC?

Ilovehamabeads · 23/05/2014 08:28

On my iPhone I only seem to be able to stop them auto playing when not on wifi. Am I missing something? I don't want to see them any more from my home wifi than I do when out and about.

ToAvoidConversation · 23/05/2014 11:17

ilovehamabeads (great name). When you click on auto play you should have three options

On
Off
Auto play on wifi

That's what I have on my iPhone anyway.

Lumineer · 23/05/2014 11:25

ilove I only had the auto play on wifi only on my iPad until I installed the latest update for the Facebook app. Now I have the options hat toavoid lists.

Lumineer · 23/05/2014 11:29

which not hat. Or "now I have the options listed by toavoid*

TequilaMockingbirdy · 23/05/2014 11:33

It uses your bandwith too so if you're using your mobile on 3g watch out for using your MB! Turn it off

HypodeemicNerdle · 23/05/2014 11:34

I luffs you conversation
That works perfectly
Thank you

wobblyweebles · 23/05/2014 13:30

On HTC click on the 3 horizontal bars top right, select App Settings. Scroll down to video auto play and switch to Off.
