so i voted today and everyones question is WHO FOR? i think its between me and the ballot box! im not a political person by nature and hate getting into the nitty gritty of it all i read up and choose which policies i agree on and vote for the party they belong to no matter who it is

so everyone keeps asking me who i voted for, last time i made the mistake of telling people they launched into an attack of but his sisters cousin is a bigot so you shouldn't have voted for him or his dog sitter was caught drink driving or even i hate his tie and he has bad teeth why vote for HIM? really petty non political stuff

so this time im not telling i don't want to discuss and i've insulted no end of people today can i win? apparently not!

Yanbu, it's private and you shouldn't have to explain to anyone why or who you voted for. You get that a lot on here too, people bashing you for voting for a specific party. Says more about them really. Just ignore.

I never tell a soul, I agree it's between me and the ballot box.

I am more than happy to tell people who I voted for, if it's part of a reasonable and intelligent discussion. My parents are of the "never breathe a word" type, but I can tell (form aforementioned reasonable and intelligent discussions) who they vote for, so their secrecy is pointless

I would never outright ask anyone else who they voted for, apart from my husband.

I don't think people should be insulted if you don't tell them. It is none of their business who you or anyone else votes for

YANBU. We are lucky to live ina country where the vote is truly secret and we can choose to keep it that way

Asking people who they voted for uninvited counts in the same league in my opinion as asking outright how much they earn. Something I'd only discuss with close friends.
