to ask how long it took for your period to come back after coming off the pill?

Posting for traffic. Dh and I have decided to try for dc2. I came off the pill (cerazette) on 17th April and we started having unprotected sex straight away. I still haven't had a period yet and have taken several pregnancy tests, the most recent being today (all negative). I'm not expecting to get pregnant straight away (dc1 took 10 months to conceive) but the fact that I haven't had a period yet is misleading me. I pretty much went straight back to a normal cycle when I came off the pill (cilest) to conceive dc1. How long does it normally take?

Sorry, probably should have mentioned that I haven't really had a period since being on this pill.

Way back when I came off the pill to try to conceive what is now 4 year old dd - I had no bleeds for around a year and then became pregnant without having a period. I was nine weeks pregnant when I found out.

I had been on the pill constantly for around ten years - although my doctor said that shouldn't have made a difference.

I don't think it's common though. I was on the referral list for gynaecological (as opposed to fertility) investigations but then I got pregnant and there was never a need to follow it up

I came off cilest in March and had a withdrawl bleed. We used protection until my period finally came 42days later!

I'm now 4+6 with DC2.

Feeling incredibly lucky as DC1 was also conceived on our first cycle of trying after coming off the pill but I realise this is probably unusual.

Hope things happen for you soon bennjerry

It took me about eight months to get pregnant after stopping the pill. My periods still weren't regular, and I've no idea how I actually managed to get pregnant (I do, but I have no idea about my cycles etc). I think I had about three periods in that time.

Casmama · 20/05/2014 23:08

I came of cerazette last year and I think it was about 8 weeks before I got my period. I knew I wasn't pregnant as not quite ready to ttc but wanted to get my cycle back but had loads of pregnancy symptoms- weird. Ttc a couple of months later and bfp after first month trying. Good luck!

Both times I had a bleed in the week after taking the last pill, then was pregnant without any further bleeding.

cloggal · 20/05/2014 23:18

Three years, only after I gave birth to DS. I was on cerazette.

Boomerwang · 20/05/2014 23:48

After the mini pill it was more or less straight away, but after depo provera injection it took a further three months after the date I should have had another jab.

Benchmark · 20/05/2014 23:53

After cerazette it was just under 5 weeks for me.

colleysmill · 20/05/2014 23:59

Hmmm I came off the pill last April/may and didn't have a period.

3 negative tests later and I'm sat -mnetting- looking at dc2 now 12 weeks old Grin

I have just started ttc number 1. I was on cerazette then Cerelle (same but generic version) and didn't have periods either, it took 8 weeks for the first one to arrive after stopping.

CrispyFern · 21/05/2014 06:47

Five or six months one time, eight or nine the other time.

WillWorkForMoney · 21/05/2014 06:52

Was on pill for 4 yrs, had normal withdrawal bleed then 6 weeks for proper period, then 4 weeks fot next one (waiting for one after that now)

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 21/05/2014 06:53

6-9 months each time. I have pcos though which might account for the delay.

Isabeau1980 · 22/05/2014 21:47

It took me three months after stopping. I had been on different pills (due to gynae problems) for around 18 years.
