The window cleaner has been stood at the same window for 20 minutes just texting. WIBU to ask him to bugger off?

As the title really, I'm in my lounge and he has been stood at the window texting for almost 20 minutes. He puts water on and then gets his phone out, then has to put more water on because its all run off. I don't think he can see me but I'm finding it really distracting....

Are you paying him by the hour? If not, I wouldn't worry, it's his own time he's wasting. You could pull the blind up and wave, maybe open the window and offer him a coffee for his break? Wink

PlantsAndFlowers · 19/05/2014 12:29

I'd stick my head out and say 'is there a problem with the window?'

BrianTheMole · 19/05/2014 12:30

Yes thats annoying. Ask him when he's planning to finish.

Chelvis · 19/05/2014 12:30

I would go up the the blinds and have a good look at him close up, nose to the glass. Then slowly close them but stay in position staring. That should scare him off!

The photo made me LOL!

squaretoes · 19/05/2014 12:32

No i'm at home. I am working from home marking work.

nope, we don't pay him by the hour.

I just went up to the blinds and gave him a cheery wave, he is at a different window now, still texting though. I'm not offering him a brew, its a 10 minute job!!

Grin It would bother me, just because someone was there if this makes sense. At least it's his own time he's wasting.

I love your blinds.

squaretoes · 19/05/2014 12:33

He is now texting on a ladder, there's got to be some sort of health and safety issue with that! He better not bloody fall off into my veg patch!!

Maybe an emergency has cropped up?

BrianTheMole · 19/05/2014 12:35

Maybe he's taking photos of your rooms. Seeing what you've got to steal later. Wink

Go out and ask him how long more he's going to be, as you need to go somewhere..

squaretoes · 19/05/2014 12:37

Oh no Brian don't say that!!! There's bugger all to steal at least. Perhaps he will realise its simply not worth it. Maybe he is texting pictures to his accomplice or his missus to have a good laugh at the state of my house

thank you!! the blinds were there when we moved in but I reckon it will be super awkward to get new ones for the bay window so i'm leaving them.

squaretoes · 19/05/2014 12:43

OH FUCK!! I think he may actually have been mumsnetting, he just rang the doorbell to apologise for texting all the way round...he has gone to text outside next doors windows now.

AnotherSpinningFuckingRainbow · 20/05/2014 08:59

Hope he wasn't wasting your water catsbumface

scarletforya · 20/05/2014 09:04

There must have been some emergency.

No bread at home.
You get it.
I didn't bring my wallet.
You didn't bring your wallet!?

Etc

ThatBloodyWoman · 20/05/2014 09:10

I would have squashed my face up against the window and made a face.

Seriously though, may have been some sort of situation that needed dealing with -child taken ill, or whatever-and he may, rightly have been focussing on that, rather than where he's standing.

WaitMonkey · 20/05/2014 09:33

Love this thread. Grin

JerseySpud · 20/05/2014 09:42

I so would have pressed my face up to the glass

Or blown on the glass to make it steamy and written

'Are the windows confusing you?'

growingolddicustingly · 20/05/2014 11:36

Crikey OP don't upset your window cleaner. I last saw mine over 2 years ago and can't find another for love nor money. Sad
