Use the classes for support and pretend I am following the Slimming World diet?

Cheaper than an extra fifteen pounds per week for counselling at LighterLife, on top of the product price.

Yes three different diets mentioned Hmm

The SW classes will clap and cheer each week at my amazing losses Grin

I can use FB support groups... Just need to physically join a group for weekly 'support' and a pat on the back for my achievements.

I did think about doing that but thought the SW consultant might suspect something if I was losing 5lbs a week. Also I would feel bad taking the slimmer of the week certificate.

SoleSource · 18/05/2014 18:54

I know cato is why I'm hesitant, but I have thirteen stones to lose....

Anonynony · 18/05/2014 18:55

Do it!!

SoleSource · 18/05/2014 18:58
Grin

Will do then, there is a class near to me at 11.30am tomorrow.

Just dreading the questions wrt diet. I have done the SW diet many times, I know what to say. Feel bad telling fibs :(

HannerHet · 18/05/2014 18:58

Do it! I did weight watchers but didn't count the points, I just did my own thing - I know what I should be eating/drinking. Lost 3.5stones Grin

cato75 · 18/05/2014 19:03

On second thoughts maybe give it a try then. I think if the classes motivate you then it can only be a good thing.

SoleSource · 18/05/2014 19:07

I'm scared!

Am I being daft?

OP posts:
FoodieToo · 18/05/2014 19:09

In fairness I don't think any of the diet clubs care what you do as long as they get your cash!!
Good luck!

StarGazeyPond · 18/05/2014 19:10

Umm......when you join SW you have to fill in a food diary for a couple of weeks so they can see you 'get it' i.e. are eating the right foods Hmm

StarGazeyPond · 18/05/2014 19:11

Why not just do SW (Extra Easy is easy peasy!) and sell the sachets Grin

cato75 · 18/05/2014 19:11

What are you scared of? Have you ever done a vlcd before?

SoleSource · 18/05/2014 19:13

Yeah, I have packs leftover from my Cambridge Diet efort earlier this year. When they run out I'll erm.... dunno Grin but LL from Superdrug..

OP posts:
SoleSource · 18/05/2014 19:14

Scared of telling fibs .

OP posts:
WantonMother · 18/05/2014 19:34

Hmmn, I'm not sure I could cope going to meetings and hearing people talk about food while I'm just having shakes, soups etc. But if you think it will work for you stuff feeling bad about fibs! Mind you, if you've got a fair bit to lose, why not use your Cambridge sachets and wait until you're closer to goal and starting to think about eating again then?

I'm on day 5 of sole source Cambridge diet. Been told not to weigh but have lost 9lbs so far! What really helps with me is not even thinking about food. Done WW, SW and Cambridge before (put my weight back on plus a bit more!) along with various diets and have come to the conclusion that I have little restraint! But am having various health problems so need to get the weight off (6stone) any way I can and having a total ban on food works for me. I'm not even going to think about food until I'm in a healthy weight range and I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

If you're looking for support, would it help to have a MN thread? I've been looking for recent ones and found none but am too scared to start my own!

And by the way, god luck with your weightloss, my ketosis is kicking in and I feel amazing! Grin

WantonMother · 18/05/2014 19:36

*good!

dexter73 · 18/05/2014 19:38

If the packets are leftover from your effort earlier in the year then I take it that they didn't work? Maybe sell them on Ebay and follow Slimming World instead?

dexter73 · 18/05/2014 19:40

Mind you if you have done SW many times before and it hasn't worked do you think it will be different this time?

ashtrayheart · 18/05/2014 19:43

When you run out have a look at slim and save - there's a Facebook support group too. It's a vlcd but much cheaper than ll and a bit cheaper and tastier than Cambridge. No I don't work for them! Wink
I combine that with going to a Rosemary Conley class so I understand!

SoleSource · 18/05/2014 19:52

dexter i had to stop due to health problems, not saying what they were, so please do not ask. Hmm

ashtray Grin

Not tried slim and save.

A thread would be marvellous Wanton

I shall start it now!

Notmadeofrib · 18/05/2014 19:56

I know this sounds harsh, possibly rude, but .. have you asked about having a gastric band (or similar).

dexter73 · 18/05/2014 20:08

I'm not going to ask but it just seems if you have done it many times before and it hasn't worked then maybe it isn't for you.

DamnBamboo · 18/05/2014 20:14

Why do you think £15 for a group session with qualified behaviour change facilitators is a lot?

My understanding is that Lighterlife is quite literally unique in its offering of trying to address longer-term behavioural change.

You only have the read a DM article today (NHS nurse who now liquidises his kebabs) to see that simply losing it (even with a gastric band), is not the answer.

I think you need to reconsider your strategy here OP

Whitewhine · 18/05/2014 20:15

Use up your CD sachets then join SW perhaps?

Viviennemary · 18/05/2014 20:16

If it works for you I can't see the harm. I tried Slimming World again a couple of months ago. I found it really difficult to stick to and gave up. I was starving all the time. Have also done Cambridge and it was hard but it worked.
