DP was admitted last week and moved to HDU last night. They don't know what's wrong. He has fluid on belly, some kind of infection and impiared liver function. There is talk of moving him ti ICU. We seem to be waiting on endless tests. He is 35 we have a three year old and I am 7 months pregnant. I need him . Please tell me your positive stories of recovery from these situations.

Hi all

In a defiant mood today. Going to get DH's nausea under control so he can eat and get strong. Then the cancer can fuck off. His anti sickness has been reviewed, am getting him some anti sickness bands and aloe Vera to help. There are3,500 cases of cancer going into spontaneous regression, DH will be 3501. Someone has to win the lottery after all.

FUCK OFF CANCER.

check with the doctors about Aloe vera - side effects include nausea stomach pain and vomiting. Natural does not necc = harmless.

thegreylady · 31/05/2014 12:50

IFHC xxx

thegreylady · 31/05/2014 12:52

When I had cancer I had an anti nausea drug called domperidone (I think) which worked well for chemo nausea.

Bunnytheeggrobat · 31/05/2014 13:43

Gro glad you're in better spirits today. Hope the new anti nausea medication kicks in soon. If he is still struggling the on call doctors will be able to seek advice from the Macmillan team over the weekend - it shouldn't need to wait until Monday. They are the experts in getting symptoms like this under control.

Are you getting any rest? Have you made any steps towards finding someone for you to talk to? The Macmillan teams usually have access to excellent counsellors and given your position am sure you would be a priority.

Will be thinking of you.

SallyMcgally · 31/05/2014 18:56

giraffescantboogie · 31/05/2014 23:16

Just adding another FUCK OFF to the list.

Cancer is evil.

IamtheZombie · 01/06/2014 00:17

All of us affected by cancer would like it to fuck off.

gertiegusset · 01/06/2014 01:35

I don't see cancer as evil as such.
Cancer doesn't think or seek us out or come and get us.
It's just something that happens.
I see cancer as a thing that just happens to some people when some cells change and become malignant.
It can happen to any one of us and is awful if it happens to our child or us or anyone we love and care for.

One day, hopefully, there will be a cure, but I think that some cancers will take longer to cure than others.
I think different cancers will have different cures.

But it isn't personal.

gertiegusset · 01/06/2014 01:42

I read once that if you have had children you are hugely less likely to get uterine cancer.
Yet my Grandma died from it and she had four children.
My Mother died from, they said, lung cancer aged 86, yet she never smoked.
DH has prostate cancer and is currently being treated for it, hopefully it will be stopped in it's tracks.
