I want her to have a full, proper, leather shoe for school (colour doesnt matter). Apparently girls only wear pumps Hmm I cant find any on clarkes or start right website. Maximum I can spend is £30 it doesn't help dd is only a size 7.5 tiny feet

The fitter in Clarkes was surprised that I didn't want to buy dd a pair or ballet style pumps, and said it was the wrong 'season' for proper shoes. Season, SEASON you are aware that pu, os dont keep your feetbdry and it rains a lot in summer right?! Angry

there were some boys ones but dd didn't want 'boys shoes' Hmm

But the sales assistant is right, most kids wear the more open shape due to the heat.

Schools round here see the littlies go in in wellies on wet days and wear their slippers/sand shoes.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 15/05/2014 18:10

My LO has the ones I linked second, in a 7, and the gap is the size of two postage stamps.

cardibach · 15/05/2014 18:14

The first two posted by Think are not ballet pumps! They are perfectly substantial shoes for everything but deepest winter! DD (now 18) used to wear them, so they aren't a new fad. Her feet were dry too...

olivo · 15/05/2014 18:14

Try shoesforkids.co.uk. They have Clark's and startrite shoes for all seasons at excellent prices. I use them all the time.

HighwayDragon · 15/05/2014 18:15

They do at school but I'm not carrying wellies everywhere I go just in case it rains.

Try happy little soles or livie and luca.

WillieWaggledagger · 15/05/2014 18:16

these are pumps

the ones above are mary janes / t-bars, which i wore to school myself at her age over 20 years ago

MrsBungle · 15/05/2014 18:20

My dd's school shoes are the second link posted above. She's worn them all winter and hasn't had wet feet. They've been perfectly substantial. When it snowed or was extreme weather she had leather boots.

m.zalando.co.uk/primigi/
There are some pink ones here for £37.50. Is that too much? If you do a primigi search they are usually vg quality ...

Backtobedlam · 15/05/2014 18:25

My dd has shoes similar to the first link of Clarkes ones-her feet don't get wet in them unless she's jumping in puddles!

FrigginRexManningDay · 15/05/2014 18:51

Do kickers do size 7s?

I had those pink shoes that were linked for dd. Pile if cheaply made shite.

LilacRoses · 15/05/2014 19:23

To be fair to the shop.asst not many people buy shoes like you describe for their children to wear in the summer unless they buy trainers. Dd always has winter boots and the goes straight into a summery mary jane type shoe for the summer. Never had any issues. I did used to get her Kickers all year round when she was a toddler.
