So handy, so comfortable, so versatile, so good at hiding a multitude of sins........ Sad

Oh, Yak, there's nothing to be scared of. They're MARVELLOUS, honest. Try a pair and see the light Grin

Seriously, they're fab. You can't feel that you're wearing them they're that comfortable, they accommodate big arses/post-lunch or post-child stomachs, they come in lovely lovely colours (check out American Apparel) ...

Just make sure you wear them with a top that covers your arse, mmm-kay?

OnlyLovers · 12/05/2014 12:51

Yank, not Yak!

CheerfulYank · 12/05/2014 12:57

I really should try, I just always feel too...large! I don't know. Everyone I know swears by them. I really need to break out of my jeans/long sleeved tee or cardigan/converse rut.

kentishgirl · 12/05/2014 12:58

I recently went out in a dress I wear as a tunic, over leggings, and I definitely got a couple of funny looks. I wore it last year without that reaction. I don't think there was anything else 'odd' about me.

ouryve · 12/05/2014 13:02

Why do you give a shit?

jeanmiguelfangio · 12/05/2014 13:02

What?? Oh crap thats my go to look. Sod this, ive been uncool forever, nothing is going to change now
also leggings are my friend, not the cheap see through jobbies but good thick covering ones.
kentish I am currently wearing that combo but have yet to leave the house lazy should I prepare for the worst?

noddyholder · 12/05/2014 13:05

If I wear leggings or stretchy things too much it makes me a bit complacent about my weight proper clothes that 'fit' let me know when I have been overdoing the wine and chips!

EduardoBarcelona · 12/05/2014 13:07

so agree with noddy.
in the hey day of Jeggings I heard that advice from Nod, put on my topshop baxters and.. ( well I couldn't put on my baxters ) for I was a fat old biffa

noddyholder · 12/05/2014 13:17

I think proper jeans and trousers are way more flattering on lumps and bumps too I admit not as comfy but when i see my 19 yr old son's gfs in leggings with little top and trainers and everything where it should be I think I look better in structure!

Vintagejazz · 12/05/2014 13:28

Well I know tunics and leggings aren't the height of fashion anymore but they're still a pretty normal everyday outfit that you see on the street. Why on earth would anyone get funny looks for wearing them. Are you sure your tunic wasn't caught up in your knickers or you hadn't accidentally gone out with your shower cap still on Kentish?

TequilaMockingbirdy · 12/05/2014 13:29

I'm currently wearing a Red Dwarf 'Smeg Head' tee and leggings. SO COOL MUCH FASHION

noddyholder · 12/05/2014 13:31
Grin
jeanmiguelfangio · 12/05/2014 13:33

Slowly pulls shower cap off head- damn the fashion conscious

kentishgirl · 12/05/2014 13:54

I happen to have a lovely bright pink with flowers on Gok Wan shower cap that looks like part of an Edwardian ladies bathing suit, and I don't think I left it on.

Oh thought I looked a funny too, in that slight mouth twitch, 'no you wear whatever you like, love' way.

Sad

He said it was because my leggings were too short, cropped ones just below the knee instead of full length. Does that make a difference?

I originally wanted to wear it over shorts but it was longer than the shorts and it just made me look really fat.

I don't like wearing dresses on their own. They are nearly all see-through in the wrong light, and I'm not a ladylike thing who can remember to sit elegantly with my legs together.

Rosa · 12/05/2014 13:57

sitting here in jeans and fat face tunic ..Oh bugger never mind

NickiFury · 12/05/2014 15:28

You got funny looks for wearing a tunic with leggings?

Hmm Really?

Bunbaker · 12/05/2014 16:00

"They are nearly all see-through in the wrong light,"

So you wear an underskirt or waist slip or whatever you call them these days.

NickiFury · 12/05/2014 16:45

So what "should" we all be wearing this season then? Has that already been answered?

SirChenjin · 12/05/2014 16:47

Yeah - I answered it upthread. 'Whatever the hell you like' is what you 'should' be wearing Grin Grin

usualnamechanger · 12/05/2014 17:21

They were never cool for the short woman.

Pipbin · 12/05/2014 17:49

I'm 5ft 3 and I wear leggings and I give not a shit.

Pipbin · 12/05/2014 17:51

Anyway, everything looks shit when you are dumpy. Just wear actual clothes not a onesie and it's fine.

Daisymasie · 12/05/2014 17:51

They're great for this inbetweeny time of year when it's too warm for tights but you're not feeling brave and tanned enough to bare your legs.

Bunbaker · 12/05/2014 17:57

It hasn't been too warm for tights yet where I live.

Aeroflotgirl · 12/05/2014 18:28

So what, don't be a sheep have your own style. If they look good on you, wear then. Much better than trying to squeeze into skinny jeans and muffin top bursting out (my experience)
