So handy, so comfortable, so versatile, so good at hiding a multitude of sins........ Sad

So far no-one in RL has ever mistake me for someone who gives a shit about looking cool. Or fashionable. I still get compliments, though.

www.edinaronay.com/dresses.html

Lovely tea dresses, I have one and it's really wearable and there is always Cath Kidston and Brora.

dementedma · 11/05/2014 21:15

Bloody hell Caitlin the price of those dresses!

Bunbaker · 11/05/2014 21:25

Those prices are eye wateringly high Shock

Sparklingbrook · 11/05/2014 21:27

Asda have some nice dresses. Blush

usuallysuspect · 11/05/2014 21:28

Those Brora dresses look like the dresses my grandma used to wear.

NickiFury · 11/05/2014 21:32

Asda do some nice pretty stuff but it doesn't wash well, looks like a dish rag after one wear. I know it's cheap but it's pricy if you only get one wear out of it.

Uniqlo does some lovely tops and shorts for summer and the occasional lovely frock, not eyewateringly expensive and lasts!

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 11/05/2014 21:33

Phew, so it's not just me then still doing this. The tunic-over-jeans combo is the only way I've ever found to make myself look remotely proportioned...

pointythings · 11/05/2014 22:15

I have tea dress, it's a M&S from about 1995 that I picked up in a charity shop many years ago. I love it and still wear it to work, it's the ultimate sweltering day in the office garment.

Unfortunately I have not found a tea dress that 1) fits me as well, 2) is of an equally nice fabric and quality and 3) is affordable.

So I make do with long cool linen skirts from Long Tall Sally with whatever comfy tops I have, and sod them.

Ewieindwie1 · 11/05/2014 22:28

Am cuddly and any cropped top is verboten for me. Love my five year old Fat Face tunic and jeans with flat boots. Am comfy, happy and smiley. Fashion police may snigger (but I know they will age too..... Smirks)

Summerbreezing · 11/05/2014 23:58

The price of those tea dresses Shock.

Also surprised at the posters insisting that tunics over jeans was never a cool look. I remember a time when loads of edgy teens/early twenties and boho chic types were drifting around in dresses over tight jeans, trousers or leggings. Maybe it depends where you're from.

Laughing at the 'I don't care about cool' people vehemently insisting that tunics and dresses over tight trousers was never a cool look. It was.

MrsMook · 12/05/2014 00:13

It had better be cool still, my non-maternity/ nursing wardrobe left off there 4 years ago and I'm at the threshold of real clothes again. I discovered my liking for White Stuff at 6m pg when the size of a medium blue whale, and haven't had chance to indulge yet.

PowerPants · 12/05/2014 01:02

I have never heard of Joe Browns......googled...

Is it just me or is this www.joebrowns.co.uk/sp+Womens-Dresses-Sunset-Dress+LD586 Per Una on steroids?

Caitlin17 · 12/05/2014 01:10

PowerPants that's hideous.

EduardoBarcelona · 12/05/2014 01:16

White stuff. Just dire.

PowerPants · 12/05/2014 01:28

It's quite ....odd....isn't it Caitlin.

noddyholder · 12/05/2014 08:36

I don't think women care about cool but can still want to be stylish!

SirChenjin · 12/05/2014 09:13

Roland Mouret is a name that always crops on the Style thread as one that the fashionistas drool over - what do we all think of these babies??!

Daisymasie · 12/05/2014 10:34

In fairness, there's not caring about cool, and not wanting to be stuck in a time warp. Dresses over trousers haven't reached that point yet; but you do sometimes see people who obviously got comfortable with a certain look years and years ago and haven't updated it at all. It can look a bit strange. I know a woman who still wears jackets with huge shoulder pads and has big hair and hoop earrings. I'm sure she looked bang on trend about 25 years ago, but now it just looks really odd.

noddyholder · 12/05/2014 10:40

I hate the assumption that as you get older you shouldn't give a damn what you look like and somehow are superior if you don't. You can be intelligent and not shallow and still look good and care about it!

Daisymasie · 12/05/2014 10:47

I agree Noddy. If people want to schlep around in comfy clothes and ignore fashion that's fair enough (do it myself sometimes when I can't be arsed). But what's a bit irritating on this thread is the people trying to disguise that as 'I'm too stylish to care if I look stylish.'

noddyholder · 12/05/2014 10:54

I often slob about at home but I don't think people who still love fashion etc are shallow or somehow deluding themselves re age etc. Someone up thread said 'I know they will age too' which has nothing to do with it ime.

Sparklingbrook · 12/05/2014 10:56

They are all, without exception vile Sir. I have S&B hidden. Thank goodness. Grin

grocklebox · 12/05/2014 10:57

You can intelligent and not care either....and why assume that because people dont care about fashion tnat they dont care what they look like? Or if they dont care what they look like, why assume they are making any comment about what you choose to wear or not?
