I really like Mila Kunis, she seems like a nice and down to earth person.

It's the Daily Mail I'm taking issue with. Why is a celebrity choosing to have a natural birth worth reporting on?

Are we suppose to be impressed that even celebrities opt to have natural births?

i suppose its the same as when will and kate was doing a tour of austrailia and every night the news was focused on kate playing rounders, the baby wore a cute hat. the family posed infront of a landmark... BORING!

I don't get why you'd tell people, especially if your a not particularly fantastic actress who needs to rely on sex appeal to get hired. A hugely stretched vagina isn't the image you want people to associate you with. Maybe she's going to follow Alicia Silverstone down the mommy brand route. All the has beens are doing it.

I agree, most women would probably prefer a natural birth (by which I mean vaginal delivery rather than drug free), so it's hardly an unusual choice.

I don't read the Daily Mail though, so don't have to trouble myself reading about it .

Is it not more to do with the fact she is American ? I think labour/childbirth is so much more medicalised there ? I don't know though I could be talking out my arse

She's pretty, therefore it's newsworthy.

I didn't even think she's announced she was pregnant.

Had she said the opposite, it would have been "Ooh Mila is too posh to push" articles.
Has she said "i'll see when the time comes" , the articles would have been "Mila's torn, her baby birth dilemna".
Had she said nothing or no comment, it would have been a lot of speculating and pumping of "sources close to her", to cobble an article. "mila's baby secret birth plans".

I think in America that is news. They heavily focus on c-sections and epidurals and is all quite medical.

But the mistake you have made is looking for real news in The Mail

I watched the filmed birth of Buddy's (Cake Boss) fourth Son.

The Mother, was fully made up with epidural attached waiting calming for the MW's telling her when to push.

It was quite surreal, so for a rich/famous American, it probably is news.

I've heard Oprah criticsing women who don't have full pain relief, because, "she shouldn't be embarrassing herself and the medics by rolling around in pain". She was agreed with by her fellow female guests and the audience.

Typical that within the first posts there would be a reference to the whole "bucket fanny" myth.

I'm glad that there are people who ooze sex appeal, as she does, on our screens, we all have different talents.

She spoke about the natural birth as wanting to have a midwife present rather than a drug free birth. So yeah, I think she simply means she doesn't want a section.
Seems rather strange to any of us that have given birth in UK hospitals where the midwife is almost always present.

People ask celebrities stupid questions. They answer.

And then the media publish it.

And we wonder why the celeb said it in the first place.

UNless she blogged about it Kardashian style it's not fair to judge her for saying she wants a natural birth.

Feel sorry for American women giving birth, they all seem to have about 4 medics peering up them at any one time.

I just don't why the media expects us to be impressed by this.

I think the interest is because she has never confirmed she is actually pregnant until now.

Maybe because American births are medicalised and celebs are often seen as 'too posh to push'.

The DM seems to think it's newsworthy when she goes to the supermarket, and I'd say her birth plans were infinitely more interesting than that.

Better America than being left alone in labour due to a shortage of midwives. Giving birth in Bangladesh was far more civilised than London. Never considered natural though, by the way it isn't a crime to have a c section.

I didn't realise she went out with Macaulay Culkin for ten years.

Its because generally speaking, in the US births are a lot more medicalised than over here. Elective C-sections are more common place and even vaginal births are usually managed by an OB/GYN.

So where as to us, a Midwife 'managing' our labour and Doctors and Consultants only really being involved if things get difficult / scary is standard practice.
For a lot of Americans the idea of a Midwife is really rather hippy / dippy and their concept of a 'natural birth' is different to ours.

But I agree its not news and not that remarkable to us in the UK

Mila Kunis has, as far as I know, been really private about even being pregnant - the Daily Mail on the other hand, is a digital shitface.

Apparently she discussed everything when being interviewed The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
