Ha haa! Just found this old thread Lily Allen she really is an unpleasant woman isnt she from ye olde moderation-lite Mumsnet. Am loving the contributions on that thread, and laughing at my own.

I couldn't give 2 hoots what any sleb does/says/wears, so long as they aren't hurting anyone else.

I'm not on twitter, I'd never follow the likes of Lilly Allen, but she is everywhere and it seems impossible to avoid the tripe she spouts!

I have 2 DD and I worry that they will idolise the likes of Lilly.

FWIW I don't read trashy mags or watch 'reality' TV so I am blissfully unaware of all the other annoying buggers there are .

I am quite confused now, where is the line in the sand?

On that LA thread, I just commented on behaviour LA was displaying on Loose Women. There were some people who came on to defend LA who called it a bitchfest, it was similar numbers who defend PA and KP. I don't think people defend Cilla or Paul though on those threads.

So are PA, KP, CB and PM fair game, and LA is not fair game? Or is it that on the PA threads, it is all jokes about his fake tan and love for his kids?

She was naturally an attractive woman but now she looks xxxxxxxxxx - xxxx lips and two xxxxxxxxx having a fight under her low cut top - even her false eyelashes don't appear to be put on properly.

I have edited it! things like that stand yet the comments on LA do not, I would be interested to know why?

Is it cos Lilly is a bit of a posh bird and MNHQ are worried they get a bad right up in one of the posh papers?

Yes we'll be inconsistent not least because not all threads are reported but this one was and, as it was almost entirely a stream of personal attacks plus some potentially libellous comments, we zapped it. If we'd gone through and just deleted the posts it would have had about 2 posts left. We agree with those who reported it, that it's not in the spirit of the site.

Whilst we have to take MNHQ's statement that they have not been lent on directly by Lily Allen at face value, I can't help thinking there's more to this than meets the eye. 'The spirit of mumsnet' thing is a total cop out.

Why is it a cop out? Out and out bitching and nasty, spiteful attacks are not in the spirit of the site.

Why do you think it impossible that MNHQ are capable of deciding that something is deeply unpleasant without being leant on by the person being attacked? I am certainly capable of making that kind of decision about things I read and I have never been leant on by a celebrity.

So now you are aware of some other threads, what will be happening to them?

The latest posts on the KP thread, are critising her tone of voice, her vocab, her education, her intelect, need I go on, is that in the spirit of the site or is it ok as she poses semi nude?

114 discussions comes up on advanced search for "Peter Andre love for his kids" they are all standing yet LA's thread is gone.

PA is totally different. As I said upthread. talking about how he loves his kids and is orange and makes awful music is not the same as insinuating drug taking.
The PA threads I have seen have been generally humorous, I would imagine posts on PA threads haven't been reported?

It wasn't out and out gratuitous bitching, it was in response to a specific event (putting hospital pictures on social networks) which was held to be as being emblematic of other irritating behaviours. References to her drug taking is hardly contentious when she has been open about drug use.

It depends. I didn't know she had been open about drug use, so I have learnt that on MN IYKWIM. I think assumptions were made and conclusions jumped to....

well if you google images 'Lily Allen drugs' I would say it is hardly a secret to be divulged

she's def talked about it a lot. From top of my head I think a GQ interview was where she went into a lot of detail

There were a lot of posts on that thread saying how much they like Lily.

There were a very few suggesting that she might have been using a banned substance just before her appearance on Loose Women.

So what?

I can hear the irritation in Justine's voice about this and of course this thread will go too but it really fucking pisses me off.
