to want 'celebrity' to mean 'celebrated for achievement'

I detest that fame is handed on a plate to people who had a short lived and mediocre pop/modelling/reality TV career, married wealth (footballer) and bagged themselves a media 'career' on the back of it. It seems so much harder to achieve the same status from talent and plain hard work.

AIBU to hope that Max Clifford's imprisonment will promote a significant demise in this kind of media stardom?
