to be using nearly a box of avocados as a face mask/hair treatment and then let the Hound have a taste?*

Local grocer gave me a box of avocados he was about to bin, I brought them home and have eaten the most lovely dinner of avocado, lemon and salt.

The rest were not so good and, as I have had a few wines, thought I ould use them up. Hair and skin dry, so can't hurt? It's lovely but AIBU to let The Hound eat some?

I don't think I am but she is very new to us :).

I am so relieved to read your actual post. I thought, from the title, you were going to have Hound licking your face/body and hair,

Alchemist · 29/04/2014 21:54
  • Is it ok?

I won't give her obviously bad bits but I do eat the brownish bit myself.

These would have been BINNED. I need to use them up.

Ah phew, for a minute there, I thought the lollipop was back.

misdee · 29/04/2014 22:00

Avacado is not good for dogs

Alchemist · 29/04/2014 22:00

No, had a Scottish Grandma who used the names.

Have not watched GoT but Breaking Bad is done. I shall investigate...

Or is it the avocados?!

Will she eat it? MILs dog will eat anything other than eggs, avocado, duck liver pate and cauliflower so she might turn her nose up at it!

Tbh though you may as well use them on your har and skin, it's not a waste if it's a good use!

Alchemist · 29/04/2014 22:03

She had licks from my hand but no more. She appears to eat just about anything.

Is there a list \I could look at? Will re-post in The Dog House.

Avocado in small amounts is absolutely fine for dogs, but highly toxic to birds, rabbits and horses to name a few.

sewingandcakes · 29/04/2014 22:07

I thought of GoT too... Strange images were in my head!

Alchemist · 30/04/2014 10:21

Must say the avocado experiment worked well - hair and skin feel so soft.

The Hound is well too :).

The very reason I opened this thread. I have the picture in my head still.

So glad I wasn't the only one. I thought this was going to be someone with an unusual crush on Sandor Clegane!

Alchemist · 30/04/2014 13:37

What on earth does that mean?!

Feel like Margo not getting the joke Sad / Grin.

Avocados can be toxic to dogs (and Hounds) so I wouldn't risk it.

Your masks sound very nice, hope you're all glowy and swishy today.

CashmereMouse · 30/04/2014 14:20

Dogs shouldn't eat avocado, it's on the 'no' list of toxic things for them.

I always want to try an avocado face mask, problem is I like eating them so much that I can't bare the thought of the waste!

Alchemist · 30/04/2014 15:02

That's why I was so pleased to get a manky box of them! Dream fulfilled Grin.

But The Hound will not have anymore.
