She is Oxford educated and fluent in three languages - just saying!

She's his Mother, she's bound to big him up.

I think George is pretty well connected and intellectual in his own right.

She's not the right woman for him.

Wink

call me George, same number

Wantsunshine · 29/04/2014 18:17

His mother is a bit deluded. He's only an actor!

MaidOfStars · 29/04/2014 18:19

Not sure why an Oxford education, language fluency and being a barrister means one is automatically deemed intellectual.

CrispyFern · 29/04/2014 18:19

I have no idea what his mum said but if she loves him and thinks he is smart and ace then that's just lovely and sweet!

Cornettoninja · 29/04/2014 18:20

In his defence he's very involved in humanitarian issues and has done work with the UN. Although the same people did some work with ginger spice so that points debatable....

Either way he's clearly on the rebound , I couldn't bring myself to leave DP Wink

Roshbegosh · 29/04/2014 18:20

Very funny maid

KoalaFace · 29/04/2014 18:20

Maid you must be very hard to impress!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 29/04/2014 18:21

'Intellectual equal' is just a synonym for clever, isn't it? Doesn't necessarily imply that the person concerned is 'an intellectual'.

Hullygully · 29/04/2014 18:21

GEORGE DANCES UP THE OTHER END OF THE BALLROOM

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 29/04/2014 18:24

I drew a good picture of a spider plant in primary 4. My mum still thinks i'm an artistic genius Hmm Grin she threatened to go in and set my art teacher straight in year 8 of secondary when she gave me and A and not an A*

I win deluded mother award Grin

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 29/04/2014 18:24

Grin hully. Really?

Hullygully · 29/04/2014 18:26

yes, I'm afraid so.

MaidOfStars · 29/04/2014 18:27

Not hard to impress, perhaps a different definition of 'intellectual'. My FIL runs rings around me on history/politics/sociology; he left school at 14, while O have a PhD. Who is more intellectual? I dare say George has a fine line in cinematic/media/cultural discussion, at the least. He may well regularly tuck himself into bed with a good Umberto Eco, after a hard evening discussing the ethics of stem cell biology...

letsgotothebeach · 29/04/2014 18:27

Unless you have met him not sure you can make a judgement? Not seen what his mother has said but as long as they are happy.

MaidOfStars · 29/04/2014 18:27

O = I.

lollerskates · 29/04/2014 18:27

I'm Oxford educated and I'm not that intelligent, and a lot of the people I studied alongside were even less bright than I am. I reckon I could coach pretty much anyone of average intelligence to get a 2:1 in my subject in about 12 weeks.

MyrtleDove · 29/04/2014 18:28

'Intellectual equal' means someone is well-matched to you intellectually. That doesn't mean they need to have the same qualifications as you. Lots of people without formal qualifications are highly intelligent.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 29/04/2014 18:29

He is a pretty successful film director and businessman.

Methinks you underestimate him

alsmutko · 29/04/2014 18:29

I dunno about intellectual equal but there's a bit of an age discrepancy isn't there? I mean, when I was 35 I wouldn't have looked twice at a 52-year old man, no not even Clooney (though he doesn't do it for me actually, now Johnny Depp on the other hand ...)
I won't mention that my DP is 15 years younger than me ...

GreenIsTheWord · 29/04/2014 18:30

I would read 'intellectual equal' as meaning equal in terms of intelligence. Which they may well be, regardless of how many years she spent at Oxford.

People frequently confuse being 'intelligent' with being 'educated'. The two are not always the same thing.

castlesintheair · 29/04/2014 18:34

I have heard he is intelligent although I know nothing of his academic qualifications.

FanFuckingTastic · 29/04/2014 18:35

I'm intelligent but not educated. Age discrepancy is nonsense, I'm 31 and have dated a man in his sixties. He was hot!

Helpys · 29/04/2014 18:36

Oo loller that's intriguing. What subject? Via PM if you d
