And WIBU to return the bra they sold me in the wrong size without a receipt? It hasn't been worn...

I got fitted for a bra at said well known clothing store a couple of weeks ago - they fitted me as a 36DD.

I got fitted again today in a specialist lingerie store - they fitted me as 32FF - a bit of a difference!

Ha Kemmo - exactly what I was thinking too!

They tried to flog me a 36AA a few years back; it looked like a small bikini top on me! I suspect at the time I was probably a 32C, but was never fitted properly so don't really know and just carried on with my 34B as being "good enough".

Rachel - if it's a store-branded bra, as opposed to another well known brand, you should be able to return it without a receipt although you'll only get a credit note, not a refund - it's certainly worth asking, and, while you're doing it, complaining bitterly about the crap fitting and advice!

Well, I wasn't going to name them, but...

A few years ago I was convinced they tried to get everyone into a B cup by scaling the back size up or down until it sort of fitted. They seem to have changed to trying to get everyone into a D or DD instead.

A fitter in M&S made me cry once.

the big stores are rubbish, they measured me with a tape measure, when it was obvious that didn't fit, simply shrugged and left me to it.

Guessing M&S got it wrong and Bravissimo got it right.

Another guess at marks and Spencer's? I work as a bra fitter for a department store and we get a shocking amount of people who say they were measured incorrectly at marks and Spencer's. Probably because they actually use a tape measure and assume that the (ridiculously wrong) size they have measured will be the same in all bras

M&S are awful ime at bra fitting too. Their clothes are otherwise fine but I never get underwear there unless I've been measured elsewhere first.

Marks and spencer measured me at 38 dd I'm a 34 g.

M&S are rubbish.

Bravissimo are awesome, my back pain disappeared over night felt comfortable and well supported.

Monstrous and Shameful. Blasted awful. I had one horrendous fitting with them and I will NEVER buy underwear from them again on the basis that they don't want my money enough to look after me.

When I emailed them with a complaint they did the normal "we are very sorry you had this experience." and then asked me to tell them my bra size. Actually now I think about it, I'm done shopping there full stop.

I have been badly fitted in M&S, John Lewis, Bravissimo and even fucking Rigby and Peller! I have complained bitterly to all and they did re-fit and admit initial mistakes but I don't think I should have had to return to be fitted correctly! I am considering giving up on bras and letting my boobs hang free. I am approx. a 34D/DD (although heaven only knows what size I really am) so not huge.

Sorry this turned into a rant about the last year of my life and trying to find a comfy bra.

Another supporter for Bravissimo, have used them for years. The assistants generally ask you what size you wear, say that it's wrong and instantly give you the right one. I wore a 36d and since going there am a 32f (well 34f now that I'm pregnant!)

Saying all that, I don't find their clothes amazing. The fit isn't great & it can be expensive for what it is in my opinion.

And once you have the correct size, La Senza do some lovely lingerie for the bigger boobies

I went into marks and spencers for a fitting. I told them that my 34c was feeling tight the fitter brought me in a 32a

I've always had a good experience at M+S - but that was with a booked apt with a fitter

they don't give you a size any more because it varies from bra style to bra style - they give you an idea and show you how to fit it properly yourself

I vary between a 32DD and a 34C

On a previous thread about how people climb into their bras I mentioned that the lady at M&S fitting had not liked it when I leant forward to do my scooping. Experienced bra hands said that this is A Bad Thing that she had Bad Reasons for doing, although I don't recall the details.

M&S fitter told me it was a shame that my breasts couldn't be moved from under my armpits and sit at the front of my chest. They measured me as a 38E when I am actually 34HH, and my breasts are no longer nestled in my armpits.

I visited Bravissimo this weekend, I didn't buy any bras but had a wonderful experience buying dresses that accommodate larger boobs. For the first time in my life I didn't feel like a freak.

My experience:

M&S: Matronly (of the Les Dawson variety) and stern lady with a visible underskirt, armed with tape measure and who made me cry = 40B

Bravissimo: Lovely lady with loads of time to spare and thorough explanations, no tape measure, no tears, no more back pain = 34FF

M&S is dead to me.

Yep, could've guessed. I gave up on them years ago... "Fitted" me as 36c, despite nearly up to my neck and boobs somewhere around umbilicus... Bravissimo -28FF (not a stealth boast, 3 kids later they're like empty sacks and require industrial scaffolding)

Just to clarify, I meant the back moving skyward... My anatomy isn't quite that weird.

Oh M&S! Fitted me as 36DD/38D when I am in fact a 30GG. I have some shocking photos...

Don't be so coy in your OP. It is silly. The chances are you mean M&S so you should say so.

They are rubbish at fitting and I will not ever let them anywhere near me again. I have told them they are rubbish and doing it wrong but they don't care.
