AIBU?

to think that a certain well known clothing store is crap at bra fittings

And WIBU to return the bra they sold me in the wrong size without a receipt? It hasn't been worn...

I got fitted for a bra at said well known clothing store a couple of weeks ago - they fitted me as a 36DD.

I got fitted again today in a specialist lingerie store - they fitted me as 32FF - a bit of a difference!

I went in a few weeks ago because having lost a stone my bras were getting a bit baggy. I picked out the same sort as I was wearing but in a smaller cup size, friendly woman in changing room asked if she could help so I explained what I was looking for. She gave me a lecture on why the one I'd picked wouldn't fit and got me another bra to try. Ten minutes later she came to the changing room, yanked the straps a couple of times and pronounced the bra a perfect fit. I didn't have the heart to tell her it was the one I'd picked out originally Grin.

M&S measured me to be a 40C...Bravissimo measured me correctly at 36HH. Thank god for Bravissimo!

I'm glad someone else finds the larger sizes a bit odd too - I wear a 34F (so not massive), when I tried one on in M&S my boobs would have had to be on the sides of my rib cage to fit properly. I scooped and practically popped out of the middle!

I was fitted as 32B at famous dept store but this wonderful fitter at Debenhams sized me up as 30D so big difference.

Thank you for posting that blog link iampowerhoop, going to read it and do it properly when I'm home from work tonight!

I just had a quick under bust measure, and I'm 29inches...so this means I should be wearing a 30" back not 34"?!

Report
ilovepowerhoop · 30/04/2014 08:15

it could be a 28 or 30 back depending how squidgy you are. I measure 37 but can wear a 36 back.

Report
PotPourri · 30/04/2014 14:10

What powerhoop said...

I go for 32 as there's not much squidge on my torso, and 32 is easier to get bras that don't cost the earth in!

I had a fitting at bravissimo and bought a bra thinking it was ok, but after a couple of hours wear I can feel the band digging in and feeling too tight. The bra just feels so incredibly tight after a few hours it's not nice to wear. Surely that can't be right? (Looks ok tho!)

Also I walked out of there feeling great at being a 30f, but seriously I just don't think I'm an f cup at all. Unless I'm just brainwashed by m & s that I'm a c/d cup.

Not impressed by bravissimo at all (tho it may have been a one off and perhaps I should go back and try again).

not all F cups are the same though i.e. an F cup on a 30 back is much smaller than an F cup on a 38 back. If your over bust size is 7 inches larger than your back size then that translates to an F cup

Loved r& p when I could afford it. Now love bravissimo.StStill quite pricey but worth it.

M&S measured me at 46E for a bra, and it was only years later, on reading the Brasvissimo website that I thought to check. I now wear size 38GG, and looking back, the 46 was so loose, I could have pulled it off over my head. It was only the straps providing any support at all.

No wonder I got backache.

M&S fitter told me she wouldn't officially fit me for a bra until was 6 weeks post breastfeeding. Despite clearly being in a bra far too big. And despite only feeding DD once a day at 12 months with no discernible fluctuation in size of boobs since she was 10 months. I'm just cramming them into my old pre pregnancy ones till I have the time to read through the MN threads on where I should get fitted.

La Senza told me they couldn't give me a size because I was 'strange'. Thanks for that

Yep, I am 34f and they said I was a 40c

Useless, and their bra straps are too short!

I've been wearing 38d for ages. Since reading the measuring thread on here I have discovered I'm actually a 34FF!

Can't find FF in anything under a 40 in Tesco (where I buy all my clothes as I'm on a low income Hmm ) so I bought 34E and F which fit sooo much better than my old ones.

However I'd love to go to a proper lingerie shop and try some beautiful well-made bras on in the correct size. Sigh.

M&S need to educate their fitters and their design dep. until then u am boycotting. Maybe someone from their will pick one of these threads sometime soon.

CantUnderstandNewtonsTheory have you tried BraStop?
They have bras from D-K and start at 28 inch back. Here is a link to the range they have for a 28F thay are reasonably priced, and often have discounts on the site.
I have bought from them a few times and have always been happy with their service. I had to return some bras that didn't fit, but that was no problem at all, they do free returns.

I have been wearing a 34E for quite awhile now, but using the Blog guide, I think I may need to rethink that - measured at a 32FF, think it may be time for a spot f bra shopping!

I haven't been formally measured after I was measured at Mothercare. I went in wearing a 34E that was very tight, and she told me I was a 38B?! I hadn't been a B cup since I was 15.
I refused to buy it, and she sulked. I said if my 34E doesn't fit a B cup won't! I ended up buying a 34F, which fitted an awful lot better than the 38B she tried forcing me in to.

ForeskinHyena - I don't think they do an FF so you would need a G
Link here to their DD+ bras, you can order them to be delivered in store so no p&p and return there and then if they don't fit

Thanks goodas, that's handy to know. I found a couple of really pretty ones in an F, but then the strap broke on one of them within a week and they only had it in an E when I went back (which is actually helpful as my boobs do vary a bit depending on how much cake I've eaten the time of the month!)

I'll have a look online and see if I can find it in the bigger sizes.

I thought that Bodicea, why aren't the shops taking note? Perhaps because they don't stock the sizes we need they think that nobody buys them, but there's no excuse for them not being able to measure and fit properly.

John Lewis are usually very good for fitting, although I did have a problem with someone trying to fit me for a nursing bra, at my pre-milk size. Luckily, it was my third DC, and I knew from my previous (also John Lewis) fitting, what size I was likely to be, so I made her sell me some a couple of cup sizes up.

DD1 (15) likes Bravissimo, as they do soft cup bras in large cup sizes - she's a 30E (or 32E in some brands) and hates underwiring. There is no Bravissimo store near us, though, so she was fitted at JL, and we bought some online from Bravisimo.

I was measured in M&S when I was 12 (first proper bra) and they measured me as 34D. At the time I was a rake with no boobs and the two bras my mum bought for me were like baggy hammocks with peanuts in the bottom. I put up with them until I was about 14 and started choosing my own bras. I'm a 36B now (I measured myself) and there's no way in hell I was ever a D cup!

DomesticSlobbess Have you tried measuring according to the Bra Guru Guide?

Please bear mind that cup size is relative to band size.
