AIBU to feel weird about this?

I am feeling a bit weird about something that happened yesterday. I spent the weekend staying at my sister's house looking after her DCs while she was on a work trip. Her elderly neighbour recently died and so there are workmen clearing out the house.

Her kitchen window overlooks the neighbour's garden so we were very aware of them being there as they were constantly walking in and out of the house. They started a huge fire in the garden (right next to my DS's wall) and were burning doors and other furniture.

We were all in the kitchen (me, and the DCs aged 6 and 9) when I glanced out of the window and saw one of the workmen come into the garden, face away from our window and get his privates out in full view of me and the DCs. He then proceeded to relieve himself against the wall, shake it off very obviously and carry on like nothing had happened.

This has freaked me out and the children were asking questions too. I feel like it isn't right to do this in full view of other people (particularly young children.) Am I right to feel like this?

Mmm OP it does sound like your saying after he took out his willy you continued to look to the point where you can tell us he shook afterwards.

Shouldn't you have turned away as soon as he popped it out?
Or did you just need a closure ahem inspection

I live in India. I probably pass a man doing a wee in the street at least once a day.

I live in France, pretty much all the men pee by the side of the road/street here and even the odd woman. The odd person also seems to be pooing (vomit!). We call our neighbour Mr Urineau because the first time we met him he was pissing in his garden and we then had to shake his hand (boak!).

It's disgusting but I doubt the children will be scared for life. Doesn't the 6 year old see her dad pee?

So a bloke came out in your neighbour's garden and had a piss? This goes on everywhere you know. In continental bogs there is sometimes a half door or sometimes just a urinal which you have to pass on the way to the ladies room. Blokes will piss anywhere - especially after beer has been consumed.

I would have been too busy turning the children away from the window with a distraction ('look over there! There's a badger with a gun!' Eddie Izzard style) at the first finger to fly moment to watch him pull it out, change angle, pee and shake...

You didn't have to carry on watching, and the only weird thing I can see is that you let the children watch too instead of moving them away if you think it's an inappropriate thing for them to see.
