To not get why anyone would want to drive cars on roads?

It's so dangerous. I mean, I know it's perfectly legal to drive a car on the road (and in fact illegal to drive them anywhere else), but I hear about road traffic accidents every day. I find it even weirder when people take their kids in cars on the road.
Tbh I don't really get the driving thing full stop. Ok, I know a lot of people find it the most efficient and economical way to get to school and work and so on, but I drove a great hulking car once and it is a pita when you are on a narrow road and there's no room to overtake other vehicles or turn round. And don't even get me started on how hard it is to find a parking space.
I feel like I am missing out though when I see families go off driving together. They actually seem to enjoy it! I'm thinking maybe I should hire a car and take my DC out as they would love it. As I have no garage or parking space though, I have no idea where to stow the thing when I'm not driving it. Am I missing out? AIBU?

I like to live dangerously Grin just bought a convertible to use for the summer, so we can catch some sun while risking life and limb.

Morgause · 25/04/2014 13:13

It's perfectly safe as long as the bloody cyclists don't get in your way.

marfisa · 25/04/2014 13:13

How foolish, Mini, you're taking your life in your hands!

That said at least you have presumably bought a new car and not one of those old rickety things I have seen other people driving round in.

Don't get me started on driving in London, down streets lined either side with cars and no room to pass another vehicle. Brings me out in a cold sweat every time!

marfisa · 25/04/2014 13:14

Quite, Morgause, quite.

I enjoyed driving on a ranch in Kenya though, so I agree with the whole roads thing ;)

What Morgause said. Hmm.

Sorry, yes, I was just kidding. Couldn't resist posting the cyclist's perspective after reading this other thread active in AIBU:

Yes yes I know, tis worse than the Cresta Run, especially when the cyclists run into you. With a soft top they might actually land on our laps.

mrsbucketxx · 25/04/2014 13:21

sorry lmao
