Watching channel 4 and the announcer biscuit keeps randomly biscuit saying 'biscuit' in the middle of her biscuit sentences.

Can anyone biscuit enlighten me?

OP posts:

Well it would be the same if the persons condition meant they could do the manual handling perfectly but also lift a few extra boxes aswell. I'd say go for it love in that case.

NurseyWursey · 24/04/2014 23:15

Which is why she probably wouldn't get a job in it eh aboy?

CaptChaos · 24/04/2014 23:16

Luckily, she's happy for you to laugh along with her. As evidenced in the she did Smile

NurseyWursey · 24/04/2014 23:17

No it wouldn't be the same, because in either case the job wouldn't be done properly. It's not about 'extra' anything. You're equating the extra words to extra boxes, when it should be the quality of each job in its own right. The announcer isn't doing her job properly if added words are put in, the OP wouldn't have been doing her job properly if she couldn't manual handle.

You understood what was being said? Job done. Her job was to introduce the next show. Thats what she did. Any C4 announcer i've ever heard has used more words than necessary and usually it's a load of guff that's not relevant. We seem to tolerate this. It would be very dull if they all just said "and now hollyoaks"

You're being purposely obtuse to suit your side of the argument. I can decipher what quite a lot of folk say but it doesn't mean they're suited to announcing.

There's nothing else I can say anyway.

NurseyWursey · 24/04/2014 23:23

Missed that one usual, oh dear.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 24/04/2014 23:24

My side of the argument? Surely it's in everyone's interest to be more ( a lot more for some people) tolerant of disabilities?

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 24/04/2014 23:24

It won't stand, usual, because it's a personal attack. And the repeats of it had to go as well. Please could I direct your and everyone else's attention to the MN Talk Guidelines?

NurseyWursey · 24/04/2014 23:25

Woah what's with all the deletions in this thread? Even mine saying sorry to usual Confused there was nothing wrong with that

Of course youre but there's being tolerant and then there's just not even using common sense. I'd actually be quite insulted as the person with the disability too, because it'd be quite obvious why I was chosen

Referring to the announcer as 'annoying' is, in itself, blatant intolerance. Would anyone say it to her face if they were having a conversation with her?

NurseyWursey · 24/04/2014 23:29

I think this deleting posts is a bit heavy handed if I'm honest.

HauntedNoddyCar · 24/04/2014 23:29

Hmm. If the point was a spot of disability awareness raising then I assume she went into it expecting her disability to be 'why she was chosen'

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 24/04/2014 23:29

Your second post was deleted, Nursey, because you repeated the same attack while making your apology. That's why the thread's like swiss cheese, most of it is coming under 'replies may be deleted' at the moment.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 24/04/2014 23:29

In this case yes, it is obvious why she was chosen as it was specifically to raise awareness. If it were to become normal that a few presenters had speech impediments (in fact i can think of one on my local radio station) then it would just serve to normalise it- it wouldnt be 'obvious' as anything other than them being the best person who applied for the job.

NurseyWursey · 24/04/2014 23:30

usual I was talking about more as if she'd applied for a job vacancy, which she obviously hasn't

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 24/04/2014 23:31

Sorry, speech impediments or disabilities affecting speech. I know tourettes isnt a speech impediment.

NurseyWursey · 24/04/2014 23:32

kelly I don't think there was anything wrong with your post as you were criticizing the post not the poster.

Thanks for explaining Helen but for the sake of this thread I think the deletions have been a bit OTT.

candycoatedwaterdrops · 24/04/2014 23:32

Nursey I assume it was my thread you were talking about and if so, this is different. If I did manual handling in my condition, I would definitely harm myself and probably harm a service user. This person is causing no harm to vulnerable people nor the general public.
