Watching channel 4 and the announcer biscuit keeps randomly biscuit saying 'biscuit' in the middle of her biscuit sentences.

Can anyone biscuit enlighten me?

It doesn't offend me. But I'm not quite sure how she's the best person for the job if she can't say a sentence without adding extra words.

I don't think disabilities should put anyone off applying for a job and I don't think it should limit them. And it should be fair playing ground. But I don't see any common sense in this at all.

theonewiththevoodoo · 24/04/2014 22:49

chronicallyhungry.... i dont think that you should have to apologise for making an easy mistake

Ruushii · 24/04/2014 22:50

Well, it's raising awareness isn't it? Already a few have learned that Tourette's isn't always swearing. Plus it helps a lot of us realise who the knobs among us are.

lemonforyourlime · 24/04/2014 22:51

"its funny in the same way that me pooping my pants would be "

my child has tourettes. I do it love when people find her disability funny. Its sometimes surreal to hear her but we live with it - every day.

Gosh really hope your colonscopy doesnt hurt too much......

Ah just read she's not an actual professional announcer C4 are allowing her to do it to raise awareness. Nothing wrong with that then.

Who cares if there's a few more words in the sentence than you can bothered listening to? Announcers/presenters often waffle on about all sorts of shite they could do without saying and none of them are raising awareness or 'normalising' disability.

Do people turn tv over if there is a person in a wheelchair on because it's more on the screen than they wanted to see? Confused

theonewiththevoodoo · 24/04/2014 23:06

i turn off what i dont want to view..... of course...

but that isnt people in wheelchairs or disabled people.

i stated my opinion that it was annoying and made me turn over.
if i went to a dentist and they had a tick that made them jump when drilling my tooth... i wouldnt go back either

for those who say she is raising awareness... she isnt! not unless you are informed of what her disability is, so that you can disregard it and listen to the message.

and before you say this thread is raising awarness..not all of the audience of c4 are on mn!

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 24/04/2014 23:06

Umm- was this announcer dropping vital words? No she was adding some inconsequential ones that anyone with half a brain can work round and understand what is being said. She can do the job fully and properly. With bells on.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 24/04/2014 23:08

"for those who say she is raising awareness... she isnt! not unless you are informed of what her disability is, so that you can disregard it and listen to the message."

She did explain it.

so therefore it wasnt clear

theonewiththevoodoo · 24/04/2014 23:10

when did she expalin she had tourettes? I didnt know

theonewiththevoodoo · 24/04/2014 23:10

i did UNDERSTAND what she was saying... i just thought it was annoying

She didn't do it 'with bells on' though did she, she basically said it, added words in and got there in the end. Good for her for doing it, good for her for raising awareness, but if people actually think a person with Tourette's such as hers should do an announcing job full time...

Bit of comparison,

An OP on here asked is if she should apply for a job, the job having a key role of manual handling. OP would have trouble doing manual handling because of her condition. The overall thoughts were no OP shouldn't apply for it if her condition interferes with her being able to complete the task.

Funny how we're having different views here though.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 24/04/2014 23:13

She explained it in one of the lead ups to some show. Not sure which. Maybe posh pawn or kevin mcclouds show.

If you understood her what is the problem? Seriously- it was a few extra words. In fact she made it real easy for you, she used the same word over and over so you could tell which one to disregard.

Aboyandabunny · 24/04/2014 23:14

The written word obviously isn't your forte but it doesn't seem to be stopping you posting on here.
