To not give the poor man a lift?

Just driving home down the quiet lane to my village in the pouring rain and passed a really morose looking guy, walking the same way and carrying two heavy looking shopping bags. My good side thought I should stop and give him a lift. The bad side thought 'he's really fat, he needs the exercise. Plus he looks a bit like a chain saw killer in a bad mood'. So I drove on and feel guilty now, as I normally like to give people a lift. I do know I am a bad person really :/

Damn, there is no cake in the house, as I am fat on the inside; what to do?

You are both charming! Like I say, I'd rather be fat than bigoted about people with weight issues.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/04/2014 21:30

I'm going to hide this nasty thread now, so you can carry on making your vile, fattiest jokes without the risk that someone might make you feel ashamed of such attitudes.

It was only a joke; I don't think I am really fattist and if I am a little bit, then I am ashamed of it :s

crazynanna · 20/04/2014 21:41

Seriously? People over the age of 10 still make 'jokes' about people's weight?

Thegoatprophecy · 20/04/2014 21:42

No, I made a joke about him waiting for me with his chainsaw :s

crazynanna · 20/04/2014 21:44

I am referring to the juvenile FB type images

How do you rid a poster making nasty infantile jokes from a thread?

Report them

Thegoatprophecy · 20/04/2014 21:49

Thought AIBU was meant to be heated and controversial? I was called a c*n't isn't that worse than a few mild fattist jokes?

OP in answer to your question there's no need to grovel.

There's every need for you to stop deliberately missing the point. No one is saying that you should offer lifts to strange men on dark nights - that's obviously not a good idea. It's the driving past thinking 'ugh the fatty needs some exercise he doesn't deserve my kindness' that makes you sound like a twat.

Hth.

crazynanna · 20/04/2014 21:50

I was called a c*n't isn't that worse than a few mild fattist jokes?

No

Lottiedoubtie · 20/04/2014 21:50

No being called a cunt isn't worse, if you were in fact being a cunt.

Thegoatprophecy · 20/04/2014 21:51

No; I just genuinely thought the walk would do him good, health wise.

Thegoatprophecy · 20/04/2014 21:52

Actually, c*nt is aggressive and sexist, it is a favourite term for abusive men to use.

OP posts:
gordyslovesheep · 20/04/2014 21:53

and many women - and if the cap fits ...

Hopper did you join MN just to post fat jokes - that is just tragic

Lottiedoubtie · 20/04/2014 21:54

Don't pretend to now be on the moral high ground Hmm

The great thing about the English language is context and in this context it wasn't used by an abusive man and it wasn't used to be sexist.

gordyslovesheep · 20/04/2014 21:56

maybe the walk will do him good - after all he may well be able to loose the weight ...you will have to work a damn site harder on your ugly attitude

crazynanna · 20/04/2014 21:56

But Crazynanna, you forgot about the proxy...

Well drop the 'r' from the last word, and I think you will find I didn't forget to report

Thegoatprophecy · 20/04/2014 21:57

I am definitely on the moral high ground, as I would never aggressively call someone a c*nt especially for no good reason. I think you are showing your true colours -and it's not a good look!

OP posts:
Topseyt · 20/04/2014 21:58

OK, you have grovelled enough for me. Wink

We do all make judgments. It can just be risky to express some of them so openly, I guess.

I don't give lifts to people I don't know. That is just me. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it.

Thegoatprophecy · 20/04/2014 21:59

Its not an ugly attitude to think a walk will improve someone's health, clearly!
