So this morning was checking facebook and my homepage was full of pics of what people had bought their dc. Money, clothes, games trampoline, trainers you name it. I thought at easter you got easter eggs right ? Its like christmas number 2.

EverythingIsAwesome · 20/04/2014 12:23

I don't get it either, but each to their own, they must have more money than me Grin My kids got 2 eggs each. We aren't even having a roast dinner!

ChocolateCoveredMisery · 20/04/2014 12:23

I don't like this either.

My DC got a couple of eggs. When I was little I got a hollow chocolate bunny and a new dress.

ElseaStars · 20/04/2014 12:26

I got my DD one easter egg off us - I don't even see the point in Easter because I'm not religious. To me it's another way for businesses to make money.

almondcakes · 20/04/2014 12:26

I only clicked on this link because I thought it would talk about unusual Easter themed novelties.

A trampoline?!

I was hoping for egg wraps from lakeland or where I could buy a tealight holder in the shape of a bunny.

ElseaStars · 20/04/2014 12:26

YANBU

Hoppinggreen · 20/04/2014 12:28

It's a bit nuts, my 2 get 4 eggs ( SIL, sil2, pil, DP).
We don't actually buy them one ourselves as that would be far too much choccy!!

Mercatel · 20/04/2014 12:29

In full agreement.

If I want/need to buy clothing, a trampoline or footwear I do it at any time of year. I don't hijack (dramatic Grin ) the Easter bunny in order to do so. Then post the results on Facebook (vulgar).

DefiniteMaybe · 20/04/2014 12:29

One of my fb friends has been bragging talking and posting pictures of the 37 Easter presents she bought for her 7 month old baby.

LotsaTuddles · 20/04/2014 12:29

We got DNieces the frozen DVD, purely because SiL said they'd get about 8 eggs as it was (which they did). Loved giving them something other tha chocolate - was hoping she'd follow suit and not get my (7mo) DS chocolate...she didn't.

SelectAUserName · 20/04/2014 12:30

YABU - for complaining about FB when it's optional and these are people you have actively chosen to interact with; for caring what other people spend their money on when it's not hurting anyone; for being judgy just because other people do things differently from you.

I am sick to the back teeth of Facebook threads. Unless they changed the law while I was out walking the dog and made it compulsory, stop fecking moaning about the way other people choose to share aspects of their life on a social media application that you don't have to use if it bothers you that much.

misstiredbuthappy · 20/04/2014 12:30

Yes almond two fb friends got their dc a trampoline along with a load of other crap.

OP posts:
Mercatel · 20/04/2014 12:31

Somebody said they thought it was a class thing, the excess and Easter presents, on one of the many threads and I'm inclined to agree.

gordyslovesheep · 20/04/2014 12:31

they get way too many eggs - especially as mine have 2 families!

My mum (in the 1970's) used to give us a choice between an egg or a small gift - I do the same

don't post pics on FB though!

whitewitchofnarnia · 20/04/2014 12:31

Ehh I gave mine presents because I wanted to, I didn't post anything on facebook and honestly couldn't care if other people give presents or not. Each to their own

WireCat · 20/04/2014 12:32

Blimey.
Mine get a few eggs. End of.

fuzzpig · 20/04/2014 12:33

I bought DCs a couple of nice books for Easter (since they'd already been given eggs by my mum and our childminder)

However yesterday DD mentioned an Easter egg hunt so I hurriedly made a few clues for a few little bits of chocolate, and they were so excited that the Easter bunny had been (despite me saying oh, I don't think he will as you've got chocolate already...) that I might just keep the books until their birthdays in summer as they were quite pricey (naice gift edition type things).

It's just like any other Sunday now, we aren't doing anything really and the weather is crap.

TickleMyTitsTillFriday · 20/04/2014 12:34

YANBU. Its wanktastic.

Ememem84 · 20/04/2014 12:38

Nope I don't get it. We're giving family the gift of slow roaste lamb. Parents and mil coming over also Sis and bf. everyone has a small Lindt bunny next to their plate. Well have a nice time. Eat loads. Etc. but no extravagant presents. They're for birthdays.

Spottybra · 20/04/2014 12:38

The only pictures on my Facebook show peoples dc's eggs. I bought mine presents but didn't see the need to Facebook it. They got Lego, a DVD, an Easter egg, a melamine picnic set (cup, plate, bowl) in their favourite characters and a dressing up costume.

They've had to wait. DS 4yrs has had 3 meltdowns over wanting this DVD. But they don't get taken to town and get bought treats every time like their peers, so if I but more than an Easter egg its because they've had to wait for the things they want.

Driveway · 20/04/2014 12:38

Yeah I was surprised to see someone get a bike this morning on my Facebook. A bike for Easter?

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 20/04/2014 12:43

I was shocked by how many eggs some children got today. There is a mum on my feed who gave her 2 year old 12 eggs. 12?!
She is not alone either, another photo from someone else showed 15 eggs/ chocolate treats for her 4 year old.
I spy some serious tummy aches in their future.

My kids have received one egg in a mug and a box of kinder eggs (6 box) from us. But they have agreed to have one kinder egg a day for the rest of the holiday to avoid tummy aches (it was actually DD age 7's idea!). Then a paint set from an uncle and another egg, but they are too busy with the paint that they haven't really looked at the egg.
I don't get the need for excess. But DH says I am a Grinch Easter Blush .

TruJay · 20/04/2014 13:02

Oh Easter on facebook makes me look like the meanest parent in the world! My ds gets 1 egg from me and dh and some little foil wrapped eggs/bunnies to find on a hunt that leads to the main egg. We also got him a toy car (he's obsessed with Disney's Cars so another to add to his collection) My mum brought an egg and some jelly beans and his great-grandparents also got him an egg and he got £10 from his grandparents (dh parents). Some children on FB are surrounded by 15/20 eggs at age 3/4! Maybe i just like my son to have teeth!

Mercatel · 20/04/2014 13:08

Where are all these Facebook people? I don't have any friends (or acquaintances) who post photos like that. I'd like to see one just to be believe it is true, the same goes for Christmas pictures with children surrounded by mountains of plastic tat that you also hear about on here.

SauvignonBlanche · 20/04/2014 13:08

Mine just got Easter eggs.

Sparklingbrook · 20/04/2014 13:08

Why would you post the pictures on FB? I will never understand. My DSs have 4 eggs each but DS1 hasn't arranged them strategically to photograph and stuck it on FB.
