So this morning was checking facebook and my homepage was full of pics of what people had bought their dc. Money, clothes, games trampoline, trainers you name it. I thought at easter you got easter eggs right ? Its like christmas number 2.

YANBU. The majority of people on FB act like utter tosspots

WireCat · 20/04/2014 13:13

I've not photographed ours & put them on fb either. Wouldn't occur to me.

DelGirl · 20/04/2014 13:13

I'm lucky to see plates of everyones dinner, each single plate! Ffs

I can sort of understand teenagers doing it. Sort of. But adults no.

I saw some Mothers Day 'piles' complete with ten pound notes artistically splayed out, and that was really a bit Confused

makeminea6x · 20/04/2014 13:19

Oh dear perhaps I'm annoying. I do tend to put photos of my DD opening presents from other fb friends on Feb, and writing thank you. Mainly because I'm hopeless at sending thank you cards and I want them to see her enjoying whatever it is. I hope I'm not subconsciously showing off.

WheresRyder · 20/04/2014 13:20

Just eggs here. We had an egg hunt this morning and the dc have a small bag full of Easter novelty chocolates (mini foil wrapped bunny, malteasers bunny, marshmallow lolly etc) and one small cadburys egg each. Then my parents and sister brought them a medium sized egg each.

I brought the dd's the frozen soundtrack but it wasn't an Easter present it was because they had tidied and cleaned their bedroom on Friday and they don't get pocket money (4&8)

SelectAUserName · 20/04/2014 13:21

If I had DCs in the first place and if I celebrated Easter, I might well have done sharon. As it is, I'm just bored of the implied superiority of MN FBers. Somehow they always seem to know what's being posted on there, so they must be using it themselves, but they're obviously using it in a much classier way than these jumped-up oiks with their conspicuous consumption and their enjoyment of food. Those jumped-up oiks being, of course, people they've willingly and voluntarily either sent or accepted a friend request to/from. Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 20/04/2014 13:21

Presumably that's birthdays though make, not a pile of chocolate that everyone in the land has. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 20/04/2014 13:23

Select my only connection to FB is that DS1 (14) has an account. I occasionally have a look, as it was the deal when he signed up. I would never have FB myself.

I am often sat there like Shock as to what is posted on there but assume it's because they are teens.

MaryPoppinsBag · 20/04/2014 13:24

YANBU
Can't understand the presents thing. One of my FB friends posted a picture of an entire dining table covered in eggs, soft toys and wrapped presents. For two children one if whom is months old. Mine have got 1 egg from us, 1 I bought from MIL's friend, a sweetie cone I made for my mindees and 2 from family (it's still a lot of chocolate!)

My kids got a trampoline at start of Easter Holiday but it was not a present as such just something I had saved up for and bought for our new house now the weather has picked up. I posted a picture on FB of them playing in the box it came in though. Wink

Fuckingforriner · 20/04/2014 13:26

Easter presents? This fashion did not arrive to Forrinland where I am from and I am happy.

WhoAteAllTheEasterEggs · 20/04/2014 13:26

We got ours an Easter egg. They also got some Easter eggs off family too. I think trampolines and presents is going a bit overboard though!
I may or may not have posted a picture of the eggs on Facebook too

Feminine · 20/04/2014 13:27

It is a bit much.

I was talking to a friend yesterday, about how (when in the supermarket) it was as if we'd forgotten a whole season to buy for!

Special food.

Special crackers Confused etc...etc...

Mine received a couple of eggs. I also organized an Easter Egg hunt :)

Feminine · 20/04/2014 13:28

Crackers in the type one pulls

I don't think 'seasonal' Jacobs are all that weird.

sunbathe · 20/04/2014 13:29

Easter used to be a much bigger thing than it is now. People used to talk of 'getting dressed for Easter', ie having new clothes.

Maybe in some areas it still is a big thing.

Can't imagine why people do it but otherwise I'm with Select

Just hide their news feeds if it irritates you so much.

Feminine · 20/04/2014 13:35

I also agree with select on her feelings on facebook/friends posting.

I don't like folk passing judgement on how others use it.

You ether use it or don't. There isn't an elite version.

AuroraSim · 20/04/2014 13:35

YANBU - however this year my DM bought DS a scooter for Easter. But that's only because his last one was stolen, I couldn't afford to replace it. So nanny bought it for Easter.

But normally it's a chocolate egg and maybe something little, like a small puzzle or teddy.

Sparklingbrook · 20/04/2014 13:39

FB Elite. I like the sound of that. Perhaps i would sign up. Grin

DelGirl · 20/04/2014 13:39

I would delete the person who posts pics of their dinner but as its family, I dont feel I should.

ladymariner · 20/04/2014 13:41

Can't understand the fuss about how simply terrible it is if a child gets more than one egg.....my ds used to get loads, he had a lot of doting relatives and friends who wanted to buy him an egg. I said thankyou very much, he always polished one off for Easter Sunday breakfast and then I just eked them out over the next few weeks. might have helped him get through them a little bit

Didn't put photos up on fb though....

Mercatel · 20/04/2014 13:46

I didn't say they were common. Though I may as well have done Blush I suppose that's unkind of me.

I'd still really like to see photos. Though if anybody I knew did it I'd think they'd taken leave of their senses.

whitewitchofnarnia · 20/04/2014 14:15

It must be a class thing , I am the only one of this thread who said they give presents , and I am rough and common as out Grin
