I'm overweight

Namechanger - I'm embarrassed.

Throughout the last month of 2012 and into 2013 I had some upsets and dealt with them by eating. I gained loads and weighed 16 stone 3lbs. I'm 5'2 so you can imagine I looked pretty much like a barrel on legs.

I started a diet in November and I have lost 4 and a half stone and I'm finally out of the obese category - JUST! My BMI is 29.9!

I still want to lose another 2 stone but go me :)

Well done Hefty, I would be thrilled to be overweight! Good effort, how did you do it?

justmuddlingalong · 19/04/2014 15:57

Never mind where you posted, well done you. That's a great achievement! Grin

With great difficulty Blush I did the Cambridge diet! and I have REALLY struggled. But I've mostly managed to lose something every week!

Well done, that's brilliant for you. Hoe do you feel?

pinkstinks · 19/04/2014 16:07

That's fab! And encouraging to hear... I have made the decision to do something about myself and been referred to we through the dr. Vouchers arrived this morning! Scary!

Jinty64 · 19/04/2014 16:09

YANBU to be really, really pleased. Well done you. Keep it up Smile

heyfattynomore · 19/04/2014 16:10

Good luck, pink.

It is very hard and I find it hard still. I love food Blush - some people have a soundtrack to their life, I have a menu! Hmm But hopefully I can make sensible choices now.

I feel a lot, lot better. Last summer I got breathless walking anywhere, I couldn't even get up and down the stairs without panting. I couldn't find clothes to fit and I never made an effort.

I have a similar journey ahead of me. Hope I do as well as you're doing! Grin

Chocchip88, I am crying with laughter at you calling the OP 'hefty'. You realise that's not her MN name don't you?

OP I'm with you! I am 29.9 too. Not got your motivation though Sad

iggymama · 19/04/2014 22:10

Well done!

I am a bit shorter than you and currently a whisker under 15 stone yy I am a barrel with legs too. I have been trying to start a VLCD for the past couple of weeks but just cannot get into it.

You must feel great for shedding over 4 stone, I hope I can follow your example and get my ample arse into gear.

CaptainTripps · 19/04/2014 22:30

Wey hey OP.

I love getting the banner out on these threads. You have done awesome. It is soooo hard.

I am same height as you and lost 3.5 st over 2 years. My BMI is now 26.9. Just can't get it into normal parameters but, hey, I'll take it. So officially I am still overweight.

Now the hardest part of all....maintaining it. My best tip is the old visualisation thing. How did you feel looking into the mirror and seeing the old you? How much nicer is it to slip into those slinky clothes. Etc etc.

Haggischucker · 19/04/2014 22:39

Well done you, know how you feel. I was overjoyed when I went from obese to overweight, chipping away at that BMI one day at a time. I'm a little up and down at the moment but am still pretty much 4 stone lighter than my 18,2 starting weight. Small steps, massive achievements!! Xx

CookieLady · 19/04/2014 23:21

That's great! I hope I do as well as you when I start my diet next week. Well done, Hey .
