dh and I have come to a wedding approx 4hours from home. we had to bring the baby and toddler as it is nowhere near anyone we live and we don't want to leave them overnight (and still bf).

I don't know the bride and groom except that they came to our wedding and have only met one other couple.

it is a childfree weekend (for cost reasons we had a nice discussion about it - no mumsnet style entitlement ishoos)(although my children are the best Grin ). they have had the grace to hold the rest of the do at a very fancy hotel where we have booked a suite.

so b&g were happy for us to all come to the church which is the main even for me, and the babies are used to church. now dh has gone to the wedding breakfast and I am sitting g reading my book while the babies sleep. dh sneaked me a bucks fizz too.

it is luxurious and relaxing.
a far cry from making small talk with strangers and from renovations at home. and dh and I will do it later

this is the life isn't it??

That sounds excellent. I would prefer that too.

catwithflowers · 19/04/2014 15:52

Sounds lovely Smile

GoldenGytha · 19/04/2014 15:57

Glad you're having a nice relaxing time OP,

I haven't been to many weddings (about 5 in 47 years, including my own) but I love them! I'd hate being stuck in a room while one was going on.

But if you're happy, then who am I to say anything Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/04/2014 16:04

I hope there are going to be regular and frequent deliveries of food and cocktails, OP!

antimatter · 19/04/2014 16:10

yanbu at all
enjoy!

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 19/04/2014 16:15

Sounds pretty cool to me! Enjoy Grin

youmakemydreams · 19/04/2014 16:18

Yanbu I am not a huge fan of weddings so the hotel room would be my choice too. Enjoy it and later on when your dh gets back

We have been invited to a wedding in July where I will know nobody apart from dp and I spat my dummy out at the cheeky invitation have told him I'm not going. Between the dress code and the 5 hours each way drive combined with the 2 nights accommodation and whole weekend babysitter I really can't be arsed think it's too much.

AreWeThereYeti · 19/04/2014 16:24

That sounds fab, especially the Buck's Fizz although, it makes for a less interesting thread than the usual Mumsnet wedding shenanigans

Now that is how you enjoy a wedding, a nice hotel suites sounds the ticket.

Could do with that as I write a few sex scenes.

londonrach · 19/04/2014 17:23

Enjoy x

poocatcherchampion · 19/04/2014 19:01

ah thanks for all the drinks and good cheer. we've been down to see and now babies are bathed and in bed and I've ordered a lobster burger and Wine on room service.

only downer is dh is a little smoosched and reckons the doing it might not happen. hey ho at least there won't be a wet patch Grin

maras2 · 19/04/2014 19:08

mootime · 19/04/2014 19:09

Sounds fabulous!

EllaFitzgerald · 19/04/2014 19:10

I've been putting off cooking dinner for at least an hour, and all I'm thinking of now is how much I want someone to bring me a lobster burger and a glass of something nice. I bet you're having a better time than your DH is.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 19/04/2014 19:25

Soooo jealous. Envy

Makes a nice change from the 'I'm being left out of everythiiiing! wedding guest threads.

poocatcherchampion · 19/04/2014 21:28

weddings are boring and naff unless you know lots of people and even then not brilliant on the whole. Yanbu - enjoy
