Does anybody else just think it encourages people to buy more food?! And does anybody actually win?

I won a apple pie. DS was over the moon Grin

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 15/04/2014 01:38

We won an apple pie, none of us were impressed!

We shared the joy and left the voucher on the table.

On a more positive note, I'm only 2 more coffees away from a freebie Grin

Andrewofgg · 15/04/2014 06:54

And there was I thinking McDonalds was a charitable organisation . . . I feel disillusioned and let down.

ForalltheSaints · 15/04/2014 07:07

It is effective as many people love gambling. I would like a law that required all fast food places to have specific planning permission and councils to be allowed to refuse McDonalds, KFC or any of the other large chains said permission, or impose conditions.

LoveBeingCantThinkOfAName · 15/04/2014 07:11

Oh my god I think you might be right, and now I think about it tgey don't put as many on some things so they are trying to get you to buy certain things too

itsbetterthanabox · 15/04/2014 07:21

I won porridge Hmm who goes to McDonald's for porridge!?

RedFocus · 15/04/2014 07:44

I don't eat at McDonalds as it makes me poorly so I can't join in the fun Wink

Andrewofgg · 15/04/2014 07:48

ForalltheSaints These places are immensely profitable.

If you try to stop them proliferating through the planning system you cannot apply it to existing businesses. So the effect is to give them monopoly value, no pun intended, by shielding them from competition.

Not sure that's what you want.

HighwayRat · 15/04/2014 07:59

Going to McDonald's for porridge is like going to a brothel for a hug.

17leftfeet · 15/04/2014 08:01

I need one more for some head phones, one more for an iPod and one more for a Xbox

Strangely I keep getting the same ones!

LovelyJubblies · 15/04/2014 09:47

They wouldn't launch a game that discourages people to buy food.
That would be dumb

stopfuckingspraying · 15/04/2014 11:27

I won a fruit bag *disappointed

mummywithsmiles25 · 15/04/2014 12:00

I need one more for some headphones. Won a free drink the other day.

I can see the headlines now; 'Fast Food Business In Game To Increase Sales Shocker!'

Thouneedsbedamned · 15/04/2014 15:04

I have never won a McDonalds freebie.

I did win a fiver inside a bag of walkers once. I loved those little blue packets of glory.

ICanSeeTheSun · 15/04/2014 18:28

I won porridge who goes to McDonald's for porridge!?

My sister, it's the cheapest place to go for breakfast on her training place.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 15/04/2014 18:53

So far we (well DSs aged 16 & 13) have won an apple pie, 2 x medium fries, 2 x medium soft drinks, 1 x medium milkshake, 2 x fruit bag, a cheeseburger & a hash brown (I know because the little tickets are all in my purse "because you won't loose them" Hmm).

We also only need one sticker on every colour! Never ever win anything of consequence though - the cheeseburger is a fairly good result for us!

Andrewofgg · 15/04/2014 22:03

HighwayRat PMSL. Thank you for giving me a chuckle at the end of the day. Goodnight all.

mummymeister · 15/04/2014 22:56

my DD has a theory that we should travel to the 4 corners of the UK and buy mcdonalds as they spread the properties out between regions. she thinks if we spend about a thousand pounds on petrol we might win a free coffee.

Haggischucker · 15/04/2014 23:11

I always get funny looks in McDonald's as I get a porridge and orange juice and sometimes a fruit pack. Don't eat any of the main meals but do like an occasional mcflurry. Do you get the monopoly stickers on the coffee, it's good too but by jings I find it strong :)

littledrummergirl · 15/04/2014 23:52

Went in there a couple of weeks ago with dcs who got very excited by the game and put the stickers on the board giving it to me to look after because I wont lose it.
Mil took us there for dinner today and dcs talked about which of the stickers matched the board from last time (this is the sort of trivial crap exciting stuff they made a point of remembering).

Ive lost the board!

Shit. I have to own up tomorrow, its not going to be a fun day.

On a plus note we had four fleet streets and four hash browns and a hot drink. Hmm

Moln · 15/04/2014 23:56

What is McDonald's Monopoly? How do I not know?

Patilla · 16/04/2014 00:01

I won a sundae and some fries.

Result.

now all I need is the car and cash

ouryve · 16/04/2014 00:02

The monopoly's not that convincing - they moved out of the centre of Durham years before BK did. They can't compete with Costa, Starbucks and numerous independent cafes and street vendors, everywhere.
