AIBU to want to clarify this with my employer?

I was told my probation period is of 3 months and this is what it says on my contract (with the standard caveat that it may be extended if they aren't happy with my performance etc etc.) . But there has been some confusion recently among myself and my colleagues about how long this period is and what it involves. I've had some colleagues say that the probationary period can be of 6 months instead of 3 and that we have to complete some specific classroom training for it. This training can only be done in our 5th month of employment, so if this is in fact mandatory to pass the probation, then it would extend the duration of the probation automatically.

I have already done the mandatory training that I was told I am required to do, and nobody has said anything to me about this new bit of training or about the probation being longer than 3 months.

Would it BU of me to ask someone in HR or my manager to clarify?

I'm not sure why you would think it would be unreasonable. Just say you would like to clarify what is required and ask. I can't see the problem.

Equally don't understand why on earth you'd ask if it was unreasonable?!

I would simply ask but also request that the response was put in writing.
