Baby @ Greggs!

while out shopping with my 8 month old we walked passed a Greggs bakers and noticed a woman come out with some pasty's. she took a bite out of one and then shoved the corner of the pasty into her child's mouth, ok not so bad but this child looked no older than my little boy, would estimated 6-9mth max. why oh why would you give a Greggs pasty to a baby???
I don't care generally how other people feed their babys, bf, ff, baby led weaning, organic, homemade or pouches/jars, but really GREGGS!
aibu thinking this is wrong for a child so young?

In some parts of the country a sausage roll is known as a "Gregg's dummy".

A corner will not kill the baby - a whole pasty or sausage roll would make a spectacular mess, though.

WireCat · 14/04/2014 18:00

Schrosaw is your Greggs on Nottingham?

knows too much about Greggs

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 14/04/2014 18:00

Usual That actually sounds amazing.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 14/04/2014 18:00

It's in Glasgow, Wire.

SauvignonBlanche · 14/04/2014 18:01

I've gone off them now!

Ploppy16 · 14/04/2014 18:01
Grin Sorry this made me laugh! When DD2 was 7 months old she was very small and 2 silly women in the park actually tutted at me.for giving her some of my ice cream.. Comments were made as well iirc but being lazy and blessed with an acute sense of 'don't give a fuckness' it washed over me without retaliation Grin. Nice try OP but we've done the outraged about food thread already in the last couple of days!

I saw a baby (1yo approx) with a greggs pizza yesterday. It was as big as his head.

True story.

WireCat · 14/04/2014 18:02

Well that says it all then Schrosaw. I bet they're battered & deep fried sausage rolls. Wink

{Disclaimer: this is a joke & complete generalisation for all those who need lighthearted stamped on their eyelids}

Aeroflotgirl · 14/04/2014 18:03

Oh yes the pasty shagger, it was in the papers. If I were him I would be too ashamed to show my face. Oh op today I saw a baby about 8/9 months eating a happy meal, shock horror.

drnoitall · 14/04/2014 18:03

I do hope you have informed the papers about this shocking discovery. They will want to know!

gordyslovesheep · 14/04/2014 18:03

next !

CloverHeart · 14/04/2014 18:04
Biscuit

God, this has been done to death! I'd give anything to have a pasty "shoved" into my gub the now!

(Don't mind me. I am having a terribly grumpy day today).

RuthlessBaggage · 14/04/2014 18:05

From memory, the pasty was extra hot because he had microwaved it Hmm so the label would need to say "DO NOT MICROWAVE BEFORE INSERTING PENIS".

He microwaved it because it had got cold on the way home. He didn't just stuff it right in; he's not a pervert.

But ... but ... he sold the story to the Sunday Sport. Has he no shame?

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 14/04/2014 18:05

Envy at deep fried sausage roll, yuck!

I want a Greggs now!

Think I'll give it to the babies for dinner! :o

TheScience · 14/04/2014 18:05

Genuine question - what is the problem with a pasty?

I have obviously missed some kind of pasties-kill-babies newsflash Confused

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 14/04/2014 18:05

I do hope you have informed the papers about this shocking discovery

The DM specifically!

Thouneedsbedamned · 14/04/2014 18:07

Ds was partial to a greggs sausage roll at approx. 9 months.

He also loved chewing on asparagus and pram wheels.

Kid likes what he likes.
No harm done.

CloverHeart · 14/04/2014 18:07

WireCat last time I went home (to Scotland) I was able to but a battered, deep fried, macaroni and cheese pie.......Shock

TheKnightsThatSayNee · 14/04/2014 18:08

thescience it's not middle class enough.

smartypants1000 · 14/04/2014 18:09

You're a silly billy, aren't you, OP??

If it helps put your mind at rest, my three had the occasional pasty at that age (yes, a whole one, yes, it did make a mess, no, it wasn't a regular thing, and no, I don't see a problem apart from perhaps the salt content which in the context of thei overall diet hasn't done them any harm whatsoever)...and they are still alive today.

pebblyshit · 14/04/2014 18:10

My pal once ate a Greggs pasty and the taxi had to stop on the way home for him to throw up all the tequila he'd drunk Sad

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 14/04/2014 18:11

I love how it's assumed that one corner of a Greggs pasty represents the whole of this child's diet, by the OP.

Whatever happened to organically grown carrots washed in fresh mountain water and peeled lovingly by small woodland animals whilst simultaneously knitting a lunch box out of natural wood shavings?

Canus · 14/04/2014 18:12

All those cute babies, cosseted and protected from 'bad stuff'?

They will grow into 60 something adults with red noses, weight issues, and wrinkles.

If they are lucky.
