To ask them to be quiet

Ive just finished a night shift and next door are hammering and sawing in the bedroom. They may as well be in the same room its that loud!!
Am so tired and need an hour or two sleep so am thinking of going to ask politely if they could stop it for a couple hours.
I dont think im being unfair am I?!

Excellent. Have you popped back to thank them and let them know that they can carry on

I asked them to give it half an hour so its all back on.. can hear drilling now Smile
Off to look for something sweet and stodgy

Glad your neighbours were more reasonable than some of the posters on here. I can only assume that most of them have never had to work nights.

Amytheflag · 12/04/2014 12:38

I'm shocked you had such reasonable neighbours! Can I have them please? Grin

Id happily delay some diy if my neighbour worked nights.
Maybe im unusual?

I would too.

What lovely neighbours! I was working last night, but didn't try to sleep until 2, by which time the lawn mowers had started.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 12/04/2014 16:07

I am glad your neighbours were understanding. I would have stopped for a couple of hours for you too if you were my neighbour. But then I did work permanent nights for 6 months whilst pregnant, and DH worked permanent nights for 2 years, so maybe that makes us more understanding.
I do think 8:30am is a bit early to start DIY, after 9am is more sociable IMO.

Sweet and stodgy is essential in the wake up process.
