We've managed to escape these so far along with collecting Match Attax & the like.

I said no, you're not having them, swooping them causes loads of problems in school etc etc

Today ds came home from school chuffed that the TA had bought them all a Panini Wirkd Cup 2014 sticker album!

Ds reckons she's given every child in the school one!!!

I think they are being handed out 'free' somewhere ...hooking the poor little buggers and then robbing them (and us).

Picturesinthefirelight · 11/04/2014 19:36

I did ask him if they had been given out as part of a promotion perhaps.

My DP is obsessed. He buys the stickers in bulk from wholesalers and sells them on eBay. My house is full of stickers, all arranged in little heaps. iPad keeps pinging with messages from other nut cases on the internet who want to buy a number 5, a 23, a 241 and a 573 to complete their collection.

I keep reminding him he is a full grown man in his mid thirties and all his friends stopped collecting football stickers back in 1989.

Good luck. Oh, and pm me if you need to buy any stickers to complete your collection! Wink

Picturesinthefirelight · 11/04/2014 19:36

As long as the older boys don't upset him by scamming him with fake cards like they did with his Pokemon ones.

Oh, Panini is ace. Got got need got...

insanityscatching · 11/04/2014 19:38

They were on the end of the tills in Sainsburys, thankfully we have no dc who would be interested nowadays because they cost me a fortune back in the day though.

WooWooOwl · 11/04/2014 19:40

They are a pain in the arse, but my ds's love them. My older one's a teenager and is very precious about the books he filled when he was younger.

Picturesinthefirelight · 11/04/2014 19:43

I remember having an Annie panini album when the film came out.

Do they still smell the same? I may encourage DS to start collecting if I can can get a hit from a freshly peeled shiny. Sudden flashback!

AnnaLegovah · 11/04/2014 20:26

Oooh yes plinky that glue smell takes me back!

I cant wait till DD is big enough for sticker albums, loved them as a kid. Will buy them for myself

TidyDancer · 11/04/2014 20:29

I would still but them now if DP didn't look at me with scorn just for suggesting it.

RhondaJean · 11/04/2014 20:29

We are doing the world cup one. I always wanted to when I was a child but WASNT ALLOWED

DH is very excited and reliving his boyhood, he's been off for extra packs while I was working today.

We have quite a few of the shiny ones already

lunar1 · 11/04/2014 20:30

our newsagent was giving them away this week. I loved my carebares one as a child.

iklboo · 11/04/2014 20:32

You've got to do the 'tongue out, lining it up perfectly' face though.

Picturesinthefirelight · 11/04/2014 21:24

Ds is suspected asd, they will be lined up perfectly

Anything to take the children's minds off the tragic death of a school friend last week I reckon.

Sorry to hear about the friend Sad.

My DS who has AS loves these, they keep him happy for hours and they are a great social aid for him with the other boys. At 50p a packet he can afford them with his pocket money. We've still got the one from the last World Cup, thats when this all started for him. It inspired a longstanding interest in geography and flags for him too. We picked up a free one in WH Smith yesterday.

His friends have always been fine with the swaps too, although I don't know how many of them still do it (they're 10 now).

honeybeeridiculous · 11/04/2014 22:50

All the supermarkets are giving them out free

Picturesinthefirelight · 11/04/2014 22:58

They got 1 pack of stickers each too.

I agree Panzee, I remember them back in the day. I had a Dennis the Menace and Thundercats sticker album

KatoPotato · 12/04/2014 01:12

Well DS was collecting the planes stickers until. My dm went to get more and the newsagent said they'd 'been recalled' our only option is to buy the whole bloody set direct now!
