Peppa pig

Just watching it now. Why the hell is the Queen of Peppa pig land a human? Makes no sense! Also why is Mrs Hamster the vet the same size as Dr Elephant? And lastly how come birds and tortoises can't speak and are pets but all other animals are human like? Hmm

As much as I like Peppa pig this really irritates me. Am I them only one or AIBU? Grin

Went to 'The Big Splash' a couple of weeks ago. It was hell.

But...

My student self (mid nineties) would have been very excited by the postmodernity of taking kids to see a show about talking animals where the talking animal kids go to see a show about talking potatoes. There's a thesis in there somewhere I'm sure of it. except I think postmodernity is a bit passe nowadays

I was having this exact discussion with OH last night!!
He thinks fish and birds are pets instead as they don't have 4 limbs so couldn't possibly be worthy of a real talking human like character.

As for the rest, no idea! We still haven't figured that out ....

Morwenna Banks is Mummy Pig.
Sarah-Anne Kennedy is Miss Rabbit and Nanny Plum.

Those of you that have been to the peppa pig concert, whats it like? Any good?

Ploppy16 · 10/04/2014 11:33

They're all the same voices in peppa and ben and holly, wise old elf is grandpa pig as well.
I.gave up trying to think about childrens programmes. DH over analyses them enough for both of us!!

DomesticSlobbess · 10/04/2014 11:35

Peppa Pig is a brat.

Peppa Pig World is lots of fun though. and ridiculously expensive

ITNG used to send DS off to sleep. I would put it on at 10.30am when it was on BBC2 for a guaranteed nap.

We're now into Team Umizoomi.

quirkychick · 10/04/2014 11:43

We are currently watching ITNG and have watched loads of peppa on loop (nick jr 2) as dd2 has been ill. I don't really watch it with her as I did it with dd1 the first time round.

Looove nanny plum. So funny. Ben and Holly is more watchable. Hoping to completely avoid Dora this time round - I don't think I could stand it!

Amytheflag · 10/04/2014 12:19

If we are talking about realism on Peppa Pig, maybe we should start with the basics. Why are there talking animals living in houses and living human lives?

What I want to know: has George Pig been potty trained yet? If so, could he and Mummy Pig produce us an informational video for how to do it?

quirkychick · 10/04/2014 14:30

Omg have just seen Ben and Holly Game of Thrones trailer. Too funny!

picnicbasketcase · 10/04/2014 14:48

Peppa's cousins are called Chloe and Alexander, so they don't go with the matching letter thingy either.

Father Christmas and the Queen are the only humans. That's probably deep and meaningful somehow.

FunLovinBunster · 10/04/2014 14:50

Peppy Pig is a wankbadger in a pigs outfit.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 10/04/2014 15:34

The concert is hideous as an adult but DD loved it. She was going on about Peppa for days and wanting to go back.

I felt sorry for the trendy young things running the hackney Empire bar. I'm sure peppa pig strawberry smoothies were a great idea at the time but the clear up after a few hundred pre-schoolers had spilt / thrown up strawberry goo everywhere was probably the best contraceptive they have had for some time!

murmuration · 10/04/2014 16:27

Has anyone seen the one where they go to some kind of fruit festival?

In addition to Mr Potato, there is a giant carrot, lettuce, and some kind of berry.

There is also Joey Kangaroo, that doesn't follow the letter-name thing.

And wow, In the Night Garden! I've only seen it about 3 times, and the posts about it were like reading another language.

Scarbella2 · 10/04/2014 16:41

Haha I was watching this episode this morn too and actually laughed out loud when there was an announcement on the tv about someone going to get an award for all their hardwork. At that moment mammy pig turned to daddy pig and said " it won't be you" real sarcastic. I didn't know she had it in her!

LouiseAderyn · 11/04/2014 11:13

I think there is more than one miss rabbit. I think its a joke for the adults about rabbits having lots of sex and therefore babies ( like the expression 'at it like rabbits'). Or maybe I'm over thinking it!
