To be bemused by these pictures of Ladies day at Aintree

I wasn't there so don't know if photographers have picked out the bad pics, but looking at the litter it looks like a horrible day out. Absolutely horrible. Why do some people insist on getting drunk like this?

Exactly. I've been to lots of vv posh events, weddings etc, some of them Down South, where I could've taken lots of photographs of really badly dressed women. At least Scousers make an effort Wink

YoniBGood · 06/04/2014 15:25

Sovery - I get that.

But the woman with huge, pendulous, bra less breasts for example; do you really think she'll look at her picture in the paper and think "Oh noes! I had no idea I looked so awful! I thought I looked really nice!" and go off and cry?

I think it's far more likely that she'll be thrilled to get her picture in the paper and she'll assume that any negative comments will be due to jealousy Hmm

CurlyhairedAssassin · 06/04/2014 15:26

Oh don't feel be feeling sorry for us lot up here in Liverpool. We know full well that half of those pictures won't be of Liverpudlians anyway. City centre hotels are booked up for the Grand National - you hear plenty of southern accents around town.

I wouldn't be seen dead there. It seems to be all about getting as pissed as possible with your mates. I know people who work in A&E who dread this weekend because they are fed up of idiots drinking all day then heading into town at night to overcrowded bars and getting into fights or just falling over. Not my thing at all.

Well said sovery

Abra1d · 06/04/2014 15:48

Never mind how they're dressed, why are they so vile about their litter? The place looks like a tip by the time they're finished. There must be some bins--why don't people use them?

YoniBGood · 06/04/2014 15:50

That isn't just wearing a low cut dress though is it?

A) She's got VERY big tits.
B) They hang very low. Unsurprising given A.
C) That dress isn't low cut. Its practically frontless.

Now all that is technically (if not aesthetically) fine.

However if you're going to try to tell me that she really doesn't realise that points A,B and C in combination make for a very unusual and unpleasant combination then you're actually being quite insulting to her, because to NOT realise then she'd have to be either thick, or live in a box.

Braless - not unusual.
Big tits - ditto.
Saggy tits - ditto.

Braless, saggy and HUGE - at an event where you're supposedly trying to look your best - not so usual.

She'd have to have the IQ of an amoeba to not realise she'd get attention. She got it.

pianodoodle · 06/04/2014 15:56

pictish OPs problem is that they are not having fun IN A RESPECTABLE MANNER.

Personally, I don't like most of the styles, but how many men don't behave in a respectable manner? Plenty I'm sure, but they're not worth photographing to condemn as they don't have boobs...

BarefootShirl · 06/04/2014 16:30

I'm very much in the live and let live camp on this -I wouldn't choose to wear some of these outfits but if these women want to and are enjoying themsleves then where's the harm.

Personally, I once went to Ladies Day at Ascot and will admit that, although I was suitably dressed (IMHO) the effect of a couple of glasses bottles of champagne and hot sunshine probably did very little to enhance either my appearance or decorum Blush

meddie · 06/04/2014 16:31

Once again The grand national isnt an event only open to Scousers, many people travel to it from all over the country

Wossname · 06/04/2014 16:38

The pic of the woman with a tag on her ankle isn't even from aintree and is a few years old. It's really shoddy that it's being linked with aintree and Liverpool. Quite a lot of the very bad ones aren't from this year or even aintree at all.

369thegoosedrankwine · 06/04/2014 18:09

I am as scouser and I have been to Aintree GN day many many times. I love the day, the racing and the day out. It is full of champagne, fun and the atmosphere is electric. If you have never been, then you really can't understand it until you have, especially not based on a handful of photographs.

As for outfits, you will see lots of beautifully turned out men and women on the day, if you go. You will also see a few who aren't your cup of tea, but 'meh' live and let live. I don't judge, in fact I have never spent much time at Aintree (or any other race event and they are not that different) seeing who is too orange, too fat, too drunk as I am usually too busy having a great time.

bottleofbeer · 06/04/2014 18:24

For a forum that feels the need to put warnings for daily mail links in titles...

Do you really believe the photos are a genuine representation of ladies day? Or do you think they go round papping the worst dressed to perpetuate a stereotype that snotty buggers like some of you love to rip your claws into?

There are no bins. The ankle tag photo is years old and wasn't taken at Aintree.

Grennie · 06/04/2014 18:32

Why women waste their time judging how other women are dressed I will never know. Actually I do - the patriarchy.

Who cares how these women are dressed. I really really don't care if they make a fashion "mistake", have been drinking alcohol, or shock, gasp look like they are having fun. This is an extremely mean thread.

KittensoftPuppydog · 06/04/2014 18:49

Threads like this disgust me much more than the photos.
If you need to get your prissy pants on and judge other women having a laugh perhaps you should get a life.
Surely mumsnet shouldn't be a channel for beating up women?
We have the daily mail to do that.

tznett · 06/04/2014 18:51

I don't care what people are wearing but the litter is dreadful.

bottleofbeer · 06/04/2014 19:03

The litter gets picked up. Don't worry.

People are paid to do it, because there are.no.bins.

It's not even unusual. They don't have bins at Euston. In deepest, darkest Landan either.

NoelOfLorst · 06/04/2014 19:12

They all look like they're having a ball, can't see much wrong with them tbh.

I don't think that's a bad pair of tits either Grin

Latraviata · 06/04/2014 19:14

The clothes don't concern me-its the same horrible, cheap look you see every weekend in big cities. Thinking its acceptable to get falling down drunk on a saturday afternoon is not something I would wish to do and I say this as someone who loves a good drink but there is a time and a place.

I beg to differ that this is not representative of most liverpudlians-I have been there and all the girls seem to go for the tangoed and as little clothes as possible look

Wossname · 06/04/2014 19:28

Oh well then, if you beg to differ having been there you must be right, eh? I live here and it's no worse than anywhere else.

I don't know why I bother reading threads like this, people falling over themselves to sneer at other women.

bottleofbeer · 06/04/2014 19:42

Hahaha Ohhhh you've been here? Great stuff, I bow down to your expertise then.

Latraviata · 06/04/2014 19:44

Well if it makes you feel any better I am actually from a town not a million miles from liverpool-also famous for its racecourse and I am not sneering. I am judging their look as I find it cheap and tacky looking and honestly a bit boring-why do they all want to be orange?

I am sure that they judge me in return-probably would think I am frumpy for not flashing my ladybits- and no of course it's not just liverpool you see this but in all honestly the worse sights I have seen has been in liverpool and newcastle-they seem to be immune to the cold whatever the weather?

bottleofbeer · 06/04/2014 19:55

You've been extremely unlucky then. In all my 35 years of living here I've yet to see flashed lady bits. Yeah Liverpool girls love to get dressed up. It might not be to your taste (some of them look amazing) but being iyo badly dressed isn't the worst crime someone can commit. They wouldn't look down their nose at you either. They're generally lovely people.
