that you would say something along the lines of "oh, hope ure ok" or something, anything!!! ... not just stare into the distance and say nothing, especially since they kept looking at you for a reason why you cant make an event and obviously fished to find out why.

don't think I can make it

oh, (half turns)

yeah have app that day

oh (turns to face me and looks at me)

am .. i have to go for a biopsy

(turns away says nothing)

wtf!!! i felt awful.

oh and I didn't really want to share ... am raging I did in hindsight but I wasn't saying it to get a "poor you" and fawning over me response but Christ a blank expressions just ... I dunno .... hurt. am I being ott?

Very odd.

I hope it was wasn't. Close friend. Many hugs and I hope all is ok

candycoatedwaterdrops · 05/04/2014 19:14

It sounds like the person wasn't really concentrating at all. What was the context?

PicaK · 05/04/2014 19:35

Otoh iwould assume thatif the person who said biopsy then didn't offer other details i had absolutely no right to pry or ask questions.

SybilRamkin · 05/04/2014 19:42

What PicaK said.

Or I'd assume they were fishing.

lilrascal · 05/04/2014 20:00

I thought that PicaK but jaysus you would say "god am here if ye need me" or anything at all ... which I would have replied thanks and no more. I was most definitely not fishing I am mostly private especially with all my ill health and am paranoid at the best of times as I appear fine on the outside but I thought it was very cold. guess I am b u and need to be less paranoid or toughen up.

As a nurse I've come across plenty of people who have no idea what a biopsy is or why they might be performed. Any chance that this might be the case here? Or am I grasping at straws? Hope you're OK.

Pollywallywinkles · 05/04/2014 20:25

Marylou2, the same thought went through my head.a lot of people if they don't know what you mean will just let it wash over.

lilrascal · 05/04/2014 20:29

Marylou perhaps you are right. gonna give the benefit of the doubt. there is history there of not always getting on so perhaps am expecting the worst. thanks guys.

Do you think she / he may have misheard? Because it really is kind of odd not to say anything.

PloddingDaily · 05/04/2014 20:35

Sometimes people just don't seem to know what to say when it comes to medical stuff, & get quite weird about trying not to say the 'wrong' thing...try not to take it to heart. I hope there are lots of supportive people around you & all goes well & the results are good. Thanks
