bath their children every day!

Following on from the thread about a poster not changing her children into pyjamas, I was surprised reading the responses how many people say they only bath their kids a couple of times a week.

I bath mine every night before bed and always have done, bar illness or something catastrophic happening in my day. On the rare occasion they have had to miss their bath, I have done a quick wipe down with a flannel, but they never seem clean after it. My kids seem to get filthy during the day, mud/food etc.

I know those kids who have excema cannot always have a bath everyday, but for anyone else it just seems like pure laziness to me.

I'm lazy. With my FT job. Four boys between 13 and 4. Six clubs to take to. One volunteer coaching session a week to provide. Five-a-day organising and cooking. Baking of goods. Own sports to play and social life to lead. Friends and family to enjoy company with. MNetting to do.

Yes. That they are not bathed every day makes me a lazy fecker.

Oh. Wait a minute.

Is just, to me, there are more important things in life.

Love this threadGrin

My god, you do your makeup for your DH coming home from work. (realises there is no point trying to engage in this debate)

Seriously, you redo your makeup for your DH coming home from work?!?!

Have I time travelled?

MrRected · 05/04/2014 10:43

Redo your make up?

Are you taking the piss?

IdkickJilliansAss · 05/04/2014 10:43

Do you wear a pinny op?

PrimalLass · 05/04/2014 10:43

We have toilet wipes. Who on earth would let their kids go around with poo-ey bums until bedtime?

(See how it feels, OP?)

Get over yourself Op bathing every night isn't actually good for their skin and after working 4 out of 5 days a week I wouldn't have time every night anyway. He certainly doesn't need it as part of bedtime routine he often has them in mornings actually.

DS has been on a mon, wed, swimming Friday and bath sat morning cycle for months he's now 2.4 and until he gets dirtier regularly he's sticking with that.

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 05/04/2014 10:44

Hahahaha. Make up on for husband coming home?

Oh my. I am now judging

I have a feeling this thread is headed south .... Yup I feel it in my water....

formerbabe · 05/04/2014 10:45

No, I'm not from the 1950s and I don't have a pinny...I briefly considered a housecoat!

I do redo my make up before he gets home!

Oh get a grip. Mine have a bath every other night and a wash on the other nights. Hair wash once a week. When we're camping it's less often than that. Shocking. They are not dirty and they do know how to wipe their bums because I taught them,
Don't you have more in your life to think about???

bringonyourwreckingball · 05/04/2014 10:45

I bathed mine every day when they were tiny, they liked it. Now they're 6 and 8, don't want to share any more so it takes forever, we don't bath on brownies night or swimming night or it pushes bedtime too late. They're perfectly clean.

MrsNoodleHead · 05/04/2014 10:46

Grumpy I think she is button pushing.

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 05/04/2014 10:47

MrR bath water? Are the kids in it every night?

LoonvanBoon · 05/04/2014 10:48

Maybe you should relax a bit, formerbabe. Or at least carry on doing what you're doing if it makes you happy, but mind your own business about everyone else?

Birdsighland · 05/04/2014 10:48

I used to bath my son regularly in lovely baby bath stuff. Then his skin started peeling and he developed eczema. I bathed him much less frequently after that. I did bits with wet flannel. Occasionally used creme that is moisturizer as well for baths or showers. He's fine now but only bath/shower with water and sometimes moisturizing cream. I think the daily bathing with the fragrant chemical stuff dried and irritated his skin.

scarletforya · 05/04/2014 10:48

Our bathroom is too cold but we do shower Dd every day.

As for babies 'sitting in their own muck'. How would that occur?

My Dd has never spent more than a minute or two in a poopy nappy.

MrRected · 05/04/2014 10:48

Lol - nope the other kind of water Wink...

Binkyridesagain · 05/04/2014 10:48

You redo your make up for when your DH comes home?

Amateur! I douche my fanjo with Dettol. He was a scout leader so the motto 'Always be prepared' has rubbed off on me.

Needaninsight · 05/04/2014 10:48

Apparently OP we're the only two! Grin

I'm sticking with my clean routine Wink

Oh, and I probably shouldn't mention I do clean pj's every day should I?!

(oh and to those that commented, of course I will be teaching DD in due time to wipe her bum properly. That wasn't the point. The point was, there will be times she will miss! She'll be a kid. Kids I'm sure often have skids [boak again!] in their pants i.e their bums aren't 100% clean. By giving her a bath daily, I'll be certain she'll be nice and clean)

Also, I totally disagree that you can tell if your own child is dirty/smelly. Of course you can't, Your nose becomes immune to it (bit like your own 'smell' of your house) I quite often notice whiffy kids! (not full on BO smelly, just that kind of whiffy!)

In the 70's, yes, none of us got bathed more than once a week. Thank god we're not still in the 70's!!!

IdkickJilliansAss · 05/04/2014 10:49

Has he not seen you without makeup, you don't sound like you've got much confidence

MrRected · 05/04/2014 10:50

Ok I will bite - Formerbabe - why do you redo your makeup before he gets home? Are you part of that weird submissive cult?
