AIBU?

Really a bit scared

So I posted here because this is where I post the most and hopefully might have a couple of peeps who recognise my name. I don't even know if I will even comeback to this thread. I'm a bit drunk.

So a growth has been found in my throat and I've been referred for surgery as an emergency on 23 April. This has all happened in a couple of weeks. After it gets removed it will be tested for cancer. I'm a single mum and DD is four. I'm all over the place. I'm really scared. I should have name changed but too pissed to do do on my phone. Anyway, I'm not good at asking for help in RL so thought I'd put it out here on here. Not scared for me but scared for her. I need to be around for a long time.

YANBU to be scared but please try to remember it's very unlikely to be cancer. A friend had a brain tumour a while back (she's also a single mum) and though it was obviously very scary for her and for all of us, she had it removed and has been completely fine for the last several years. Cancer other than breast etc is very rare in younger people. Hope it is all sorted really soon and you go on to have all the wonderful times with your daughter that you both deserve x

Fucking hell. So in waiting for this op and the results and my DD's grandad's just been told his prostate cancer is going to kill him in a few months. Life is fucking shit right now.

Sad
That's a shame. Hope all goes well with your treatment - much more likely that it will be fine than it won't.

i think part of what makes this waiting to find out bit harder is that in your mind you will imagine every possible outcome and experience the emotions that come with those thoughts.

good luck wih your op and more positive thoughts from me x

It all went ok. In a bit of pain but nowhere near as bad as having my tonsils out. If the results are bad will know within ten days but if not then just a follow up appt in six weeks.

Brilliant news, well done for getting through this most awful time. Take things easy for a while; you've been through one hell of a time, be kind to yourself.
Thanks Thanks
