To not brush dds two teeth much

My 1yo has two teeth and i often forget to brush them / i do but not as much as I should. AIBU?

She has two teeth! ?

Does everyone else do their 1 year olds twice a day? Am I being really lazy ?

I can assure you all I am very caring in every other way and dd is bathed and clean obviously...

Get into the habit now.

I used to use a clean cloth and gave her a toothbrush so dd got used to the idea.

A clean cloth for what ? Sorry ..

Teeth are non-negotiable for me.

I started brushing as soon as they came through.

If you make it an absolute routine habit, rather than doing it ad hoc, and if you do it right from the off as soon as teeth come through, you tend to get less grief from your kids, as they know it has to be done.

My 6 month old has 4 teeth. They are brushed at least once a day. I brush my teeth first so he can see what the teeth brushing is all about. It's a bit of a pain as i get seconds of brushing before he grabs and chews the brush but he needs to learn now. Those teeth have got to last him the best part of 10 years and the next ones are for life!

Give her the brush to chew while you do yours, then a quick few seconds of you brushing. As she gets more teeth you can take longer. The act of doing it every day at the same point in your dressing/bed routine makes it normal and less likely to become a trauma when she decides to throw a wobbly over it.

I did my son's twice a day as soon as they were through. Its best to get into the habit now.
I think its really important that they get a smidge of fluoride from the toothpaste twice a day too, it strengthens the teeth

My 11 month old has 13 teeth so I make sure I do them twice a day. I do sometimes forget in the morning though, but am getting better!

She has a bottle before bed and that makes her incredibly nice and sleepy, so is it awful to brush them before the bedtime bottle?

She eats very healthy, drinks just water (no juice) and has lots of soft apples to chew. But enough is enough, twice a day everyday it has to be.

I don't think it is ideal to brush before bedtime bottle but it is definitely better than not doing it at all.

I do my 15month old (8 teeth) in the bath / after tea religiously, with me having a go and her having a go too (I brush until I can hear 'brushy' sounds, then she just gnaws and tries to do it herself while I do my own in the sink to show her), and in the morning during the 'post breakfast clean up' - slightly less religiously (more gnawing. less brushing, and occasionally skipped if we are running really late).

ahh just noticed you said about bottle - mine is on boob which I read was OK for teeth so I do it before the boob/bedtime stage.

Surely anything is better than nothing though?

I'd do them after bottle. Milk is sugary. Even if you let dc chew on toothbrush herself and help a bit it gets into a routine so teeth brushing become normal.

Non negotiable in my house, even if we had to pin them down to do it.

I kept forgetting too OP. We'd gotten into a groove at bedtime and I used to panic when I realised I'd forgotten. But now it's just one of those things, like changing a nappy.

I do it after his bottle, unless of course he falls asleep (rare these days)...

Lactose is sugar, so I always did it after the breastfeed when they were small, and into cot. I know that's not ideal, but milk left in the mouth is not great. Even breastmilk.

I did get some grief from DD especially when she was a toddler, but I knew if I caved and let her off from teeth-brushing just the once, it would give her the green light to try it on every night.

I've been brushing DS teeth twice a day since they can through, you're going to have to get into the habit sooner or later so it might as well be now.
