Not an alcoholic, sometimes it helps to get through the day. Anyone else?

Do you have kids?

It's not normal to need alcohol at breakfast :(

ChestyNut · 02/04/2014 22:18

No I don't

Having an alcoholic drink in the morning " to get through the day" would indicate a huge problem to me.

Fairyloo · 02/04/2014 22:18

Only before I joined AA

Janethegirl · 02/04/2014 22:18

Brandy for breakfast..... Definitely not, never ever.

PorkPieandPickle · 02/04/2014 22:18

Hmmmmm. Why?

expatinscotland · 02/04/2014 22:18

True, Ican.

RevoltingPeasant · 02/04/2014 22:19

Fitz, wow, none of those would be acceptable amongst people I know except champagne breakfast.

I don't mean in a nasty judgy way, just no one I know would.

PreciousPeach · 02/04/2014 22:19

I think Lozzy is on a roll tonight! Should you not be in bed by now? She had a thread earlier about veeting her vag!

gimcrack · 02/04/2014 22:19

No, and I really like booze. If it's a drink after coming off a night shift, that's different as you're in a different time zone. But otherwise you might want to have a think about how much you're drinking and why.

stayathomegardener · 02/04/2014 22:19

My neighbour-81 yesterday, always has a whiskey in her morning tea but then I don't believe she drinks any more alcohol till the next days morning cuppa.

firesidechat · 02/04/2014 22:20

No Temperance Movement here. I love a glass or two of wine with my evening meal, but needing alcohol to start the day would be a bit of a worry wouldn't it?

Namelessonsie · 02/04/2014 22:20

Do you work night shifts? To me, having to have a drink to face your day is dysfunctional.

Having a drink at the end of your day, when there is no work to be done, or decisions to be made, is more responsible.

Lozzy123 · 02/04/2014 22:21

Ok PreciousPeach

Whenever we travel abroad, we are always on these early morning flights. I need a double shot of espresso to keep my eyes open, but see plenty of people drinking alcohol at that hour. Never would occur to me to assume they are all alcoholics.

Notcontent · 02/04/2014 22:22

I think it's usually a sign that yes, you do have an alcohol dependency.

gamerchick · 02/04/2014 22:22

No.. i'm a pretty heavy drinker by wimmins standards but having one in the morning doesn't cross my mind.

Daytime drinking is reserved for all inclusive, no kids holidays in the sun.

If you're questioning it then it's obviously bothering you and maybe a chat with your GP is in order.

HermioneWeasley · 02/04/2014 22:23

I could happily drink at any time of the day. There is also loads of alcoholism in my family so I don't drink at all.

I think you have a problem.

firesidechat · 02/04/2014 22:24

So little info and so obviously a provocative thread that I think I'm off to bed now.

I like a drink. I like a drink so much that I often have a week or two on the wagon to make sure I can. I do not and never drink before 6pm unless I am attending a specific lunchtime social function. Never, ever at home, certainly never alone.

NearTheWindymill · 02/04/2014 22:26

Coldlightofday. That was very clever, I wish I'd thought of it.

NinetyNinePercentTroll · 02/04/2014 22:26

OP, this is the second Hmm thread you've posted today, what with your "veet your vaj" one earlier. A little obvious, perhaps?

hiddenhome · 02/04/2014 22:27

I generally have vodka on my cornflakes, but am thinking of switching to Bacardi as it has more flavour.

BumPotato · 02/04/2014 22:27

Nothing wrong with an early livener, now and again. Xmas day wouldn't be the same without some Buck's Fizz before with breakfast.

I visited a dear friend the other day who having beat cancer has been plagued with bad health since. She's just over a hospital based bug, similar to MRSA, following an op. She greeted me at 11.30am with a bottle of bubbly...I was happy to toast her improving health.

NinetyNinePercentTroll · 02/04/2014 22:27

Ah, I see preciouspeach has also spotted it
