Arrived in Cyprus just now with 6 month old baby. Got to hotel told booking been cancelled due to our travel company going under. We have had to pay to stay tonight but not sure what to do. Manager will see us in the morning. Surely it's their job to ensure they receive the funds from. The 3rd party before accepting our booking. Or at least let us know something about it before getting on a plane with baby and both grandmas. Please help me if anyone knows anything about this I am absolutely devastated. Only took out holiday insurance a few days ago likely after the booking co went under.
Desperately worried!!!

Bloody stupid not to get insurance if that's the case.

wigglesrock · 31/03/2014 09:38

Just double checked with my husband - that's the same company my pils used. Their "travel agent" if you like was On the Beach, this is who they are getting their money back from. Their credit card company told them to do this first & it's working out for them.

Poppy67 · 31/03/2014 11:05

Why aren't you calling your insurance company? You should do this immediately.

Lj8893 · 31/03/2014 19:02

Have you got it sorted op?

Nellysgirl · 01/04/2014 11:54

Hi everyone! Finally we are sorted and I've managed to unpack and get phone charger etc.
we paid for 3 days in the room out of spending money and jetline travel have promised to settle the bill directly with the hotel. Although that is yet to happen. Again thanks so much for al your support I would have felt so frightened.
I love mn! Xx

Glad it's sorted.

But it's a good reminder to get insurance next time hey Smile

Topaz25 · 01/04/2014 12:21

The OP has already said she did take out holiday insurance, but she took it out a few days ago so she wasn't sure if it would cover the problems with the booking.

Lj8893 · 01/04/2014 12:22

Oh sorry, I missed that. My bad!

Lj8893 · 01/04/2014 12:24

Ah yep, I see she said it in the op. as she wasent replying to any posts about ringing her insurance I assumed she didn't have any.

I always get my insurance at the same time (or very soon after) booking my holiday not that I've been on holiday for years!

Burmahere · 01/04/2014 12:25

My bad? Hmm

Artfine why wouldn't you get insurance? Madness..

Burmahere · 01/04/2014 12:25

I always take out insurance at the same time as the holiday if not just before.

Lj8893 · 01/04/2014 12:29

Hey, my bad Is better than that shit cray (will only make sense if you have seen the other thread)

But yes, going without insurance (which is really inexpensive!) is utter madness!

Burmahere · 01/04/2014 12:35

Feeling old! Grin

Lj8893 · 01/04/2014 12:40

Don't feel old......the jist of that thread was that anybody over the age of 12 (and not kayne west) using that cringey phrase was an idiot Grin

Burmahere · 01/04/2014 16:45

Who's Kayne West? Blush

Nellysgirl · 02/04/2014 15:25

Thanks again everyone you have been such a great support. I'm definitely going to start booking insurance at the same time as the holiday I never considered a situation such as this!
