Absolutely rocks and is a far more efficient use of money than anti ageing face creams??

It is better empirically apparently.

I'm not a fan of face poison for me but if I start to get hag like I might change my mind Grin

I'm not sure, I think it can be incredibly ageing. Shiney, immobile foreheads don't say 'youthful' to me.

squoosh · 27/03/2014 21:22

Also what happens if you decide to stop using it, does your face just collapse in a heap of wrinkles prompting friends and co-workers to ask you 'Oh my God, are you okay, what's happened?'

gettingabitworriednow · 27/03/2014 21:23

If you go to a good practitioner it is the best thing ever. If not, you end up looking quite zombie-like. Worth researching and paying more for a good practitioner rather than a groupon cheapie ;)

gettingabitworriednow · 27/03/2014 21:25

@squoosh: z good practitioner will not leave you with a shiny immobile forehead...

ParkingFred · 27/03/2014 21:26

Botox is marvellous.

The key is to not have too much. I have never had so many comments about my skin/what creams do I use etc since I had Botox.

I tell no-one in rl and no-one has guessed.

Once every 9 months, £250, completely wrinkle free at 43. I look far better than I did at 33, although I had v young children then so was bound to look haggard.

And no headaches.

depends if you want to look like a half woman half shop dummy really

I have no issue with lines - I am 44 I am SUPPOSED to have a few lines

I guess if you feel the need to use it that's an individual choice - I wouldn;t though

Grotbagstwin · 27/03/2014 21:28

I have just had it done for the first time, it is amazing, I am not shiney and there is movement just no angry scowling face!

squoosh · 27/03/2014 21:29

I understand when people say 'go to a good practitioner' but I look at Nicole Kidman who presumably has access to the best cosmetic doctors and she just looks weird and frozen.

shazbean · 27/03/2014 21:30

One word.....

FRINGE!!!!!!

PisforPeter · 27/03/2014 21:32

I had it done yesterday by a qualified medical doctor. Absolutely love it. So worth the £216 when you consider cost of serums etc and no definitive results got topical treatments.

Yeah, you can really tell the people who had it when it first started out and they gave higher doses. The main thing is not to have Botox on the 2 small lines that are at the side when you raise your eyebrows. You will understand what I mean when you chat to a good practitioner beforehand whilst looking in a mirror...

roastednut · 27/03/2014 21:36

If anyone here can recommend someone in Leeds/Yorkshire area then please let me know. Am also interested in it working for headaches too, that would be a great bonus Smile

Not planning on having it done just yet but it's something I'll consider within the next couple of years.

PasswordProtected · 27/03/2014 21:38

Firstly, it is unlikely you can see any results after 24 hours.
Secondly the price is very "reasonable" so I hope your practitioner is suitably qualified, skilled & experienced.
The treatment is most effective if it makes you look refreshed, rather than freshly ironed ;-)

edwinbear · 27/03/2014 21:42

yy to what password said i have had botox as treatment for a medical condition every 3 months for the last 10 years, it takes around 2-3 weeks to start to work.

PisforPeter · 27/03/2014 21:47

I disagree with that. I don't really have 11's but if I try to frown it only moves slightly today whereas yesterday I could make a proper frown during the injection of the Botox.
My doctor has 20 years experience. I had a discount so well priced. :)

OP posts:
monicalewinski · 27/03/2014 21:50

I have had it on and off since 2009 (I was 34).

I got it for the deep frown lines that were coming between my eyebrows - had 3 lots, each 6 months apart and then had none until 2012; I had a further 2 lots, 6 months apart again and have had none since - will probably get it towards the end of this year.

All it does for me is it stops me being able to frown and do Hmm looks so enthusiastically, I still have facial expression, and no shiny forehead. Because I can't use the muscle, I get used to not using it, so I don't use it as much when it wears off (iyswim).

I love botox!!

PisforPeter · 27/03/2014 21:51

I've had it since my late 20's but first time in a while as I had a baby last year

PisforPeter · 27/03/2014 21:52

Yay for Botox :) :) :)

monicalewinski · 27/03/2014 21:53

I notice mine working within a couple of days usually, and the further north you go, the cheaper it is.

I live in Oxfordshire now and it's double the price it is in Scotland. I've always had mine done at a dental practice, never a beautician.

edwinbear · 27/03/2014 22:01

Maybe it works slightly differently in a cosmetic sense than a medical. mine are injected into deep neck muscles so I suppose it could take longer to 'kick in'.

Benchmark · 27/03/2014 22:02

A friend of mine had it done, she's only 23 but had deep frown lines. She hasn't told me she had it done but it's obvious, the results are amazing! Smooth forehead but looks natural.
