To want DH to take the DC out by himself on Mother's Day so that I can give the house a good clean?

House is a shit-heap. DH has been working very long hours/most weekends. DC are 4 and 2. DH has emailed to ask what I'd like us to do on Sunday...

WIBU to reply 'take the DC out from 8am to 5pm, give me free rein with a bundle of cloths, a Hoover and a mop, with the radio turned up loud to something other than frigging jungle songs for toddlers - and take your shoes off and DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING when you get back'? Grin

Sounds like my idea of heaven :)

loveulotslikejellytots · 27/03/2014 14:09

If that's what you want then fine! I'd say to DH, you take the kids out, pay for a cleaner to com and do a blitz while you spend the day doing something else.

I'm a bit sad though because your idea sounds perfect to me! Grin

YANBU

AmberLeaf · 27/03/2014 14:10

If that is what would make you happy, then tell him!

I expect he has something else in mind though.

Is he working on saturday? if not, maybe you could all have a housework splurge that day and do something 'nice' on the sunday?

Pigletin · 27/03/2014 14:17

So what is stopping you?

Pigletin · 27/03/2014 14:19

A better idea is to get a cleaner for that day and instead go out and do something fun...unless of course you prefer the cleaning Grin

BornFreeButinChains · 27/03/2014 14:19

Grin nothing wrong with that!

Flexiblefriend · 27/03/2014 14:21

YABU, could you not both have a blitz while the DC watch TV, or similar, then all go out later in the day? It seems a shame to clean instead of doing something nice together. Can you tell cleaning the house is not my top priority in life? Smile

TalisaMaegyr · 27/03/2014 14:28

But it's what she wants, Flexible... that's what it's all about, isn't it?

HeyNonny · 27/03/2014 14:34

I think I'd prefer the cleaning! Grin

There'd be something soooo satisfying about having some clear surfaces.

And, er, some time to myself! And it would be lovely to have a day in which I feel I actually achieve something for once...

I do love my DC, honest Grin. And DH too. Maybe I should suggest a day of cleaning followed by dinner out with just DH!

You are so NBU- I would LOVE that

Also a skip out the front to get rid of all the crap lying around with no arguments from anyone....bliss...

Lj8893 · 27/03/2014 15:17

Oh I would love that too and I only have a 5 month old!!

DollyParsnip · 27/03/2014 15:17

I get my DH to do this! As much as he pitches in and does more than his fair share I love blitzing an empty house when I'm in the mood! And sitting down in my lovely clean, quiet house with a cup of tea and catch up rubbish on the telly until they come back.

Tis lovely, so totally would do it, OP!

RandomPants · 27/03/2014 15:19

Sounds excellent. Actually I'd quite like even just a couple of child free hours. I could clean the bathroom and put away the laundry mountain before it topples and kills someone.

TheBookofRuth · 27/03/2014 15:20

That would be my idea of hell - miss a day out with my husband and kids AND I have to clean?! - but if you're sure it's what you want (and you're not going to feel resentful about it later), go for it.

GingerMaman · 27/03/2014 15:22

Yanbu. But how about you employ a cleaner too so that it'll take you both half the time, and the other half the time you can go and chill at the cinema (or wherever takes your fancy)! Smile

Onsera3 · 27/03/2014 15:32

YANBU I would love that. Though I would need about a week! Would love to do a really good spring clean.

Mrsfrumble · 27/03/2014 15:34

YADNBU.
I had a blissful day cleaning our old apartment after we'd moved out. DH looked after the toddlers at the new house while I blitzed the old place, listening to music I'd chosen, eating snacks without having to share, and having NO interruptions. It looked amazing when I'd finished. Sooooo satisfying!

gamerchick · 27/03/2014 15:34

My idea of heaven Grin

It mildly niggles when people always pop up about getting a cleaner.. Some of us actually enjoy cleaning yanno Angry
