In the new flora buttery advert - describes a situation where two DSs walk in on parents 'wrestling'. AIBU to think this is slightly odd?

Depends...what were they using the marge for?

avocadoadvantage · 25/03/2014 21:35

I hate that ad. It's just so...icky!

JonSnowIsAProperLover · 25/03/2014 21:35

Sex sells everything.

But the wrestling advert is certainly weird.

JonSnowIsAProperLover · 25/03/2014 21:38

Bumsex.

That's why the kids thought they were wrestling.

lessonsintightropes · 25/03/2014 21:38

Mairzy for buttering toast for the parents' post-coital snack. (After all that wrestling they were hungry... a good job we made all the toast.) Yuk!

FutTheShuckUp · 25/03/2014 21:39

It's not new where have you been?
It's pathetic and shit though.

nochips · 25/03/2014 21:40

Stupid ad.

And very cringeworthy.

lessonsintightropes · 25/03/2014 21:42

Fut I don't watch a lot of telly with adverts (mainly a boxsetter), just stumbled across it on telly and was a bit aghast.

fluffyraggies · 25/03/2014 21:43

YANBU IMO.

I watched that add. with a bit of a cross between a Confused and a Hmm face on.

Margarine ... sex ... kids ... parents ...

Atbeckandcall · 25/03/2014 21:47

YANBU, I hate this advert. Bit too Last Tango In Paris for my taste maybe that's because I'm a filthy bitch

owlbegoing · 25/03/2014 21:47

Either I have a weird sense of humour or you all have had a humour bypass. Hmm

RedSpringer · 25/03/2014 21:47

I can't stand that ad either ConfusedConfused

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 25/03/2014 21:49

We have bitched about that stupid advert MANY times already. Yanbu.

JCDenton · 25/03/2014 22:07

It's really really odd, it's not at all offensive but it's not at all funny either. It just falls flat and is a bit off.

Sirzy · 25/03/2014 22:09

I don't see an issue with it at all, can't say it's an ad I like but I don't tend to like ads in general

It's worked though as it's got people talking!

McPheezingMyButtOff · 25/03/2014 22:09

Yep.

They've certainly come at it from a weird angle.

Maybe that's why they needed the Marg.

UncleT · 25/03/2014 22:11

YANBU. It leapt out at me the first time I heard it. I'm no prude, but I do think it's grossly inappropriate.

lessonsintightropes · 25/03/2014 22:13

I'm not trying to say it's offensive, sorry if I wasn't clear, I just think it's really, really weird and can't think that something I would be personally a bit embarassed about (being walked in on by children whilst having sex) is such a great thing to use to sell... margerine. Or anything else for that matter!

Pictures of it oozing down a crumpet, with no voice over, maybe with some Bach in the background, would make it far more appealing...

OP posts:
UncleT · 25/03/2014 22:16

Fair enough, but I still don't think it's remotely appropriate for daytime, family-themed adverts. And, like you say, just why?? Weird as hell.

Abbierhodes · 25/03/2014 22:18

I thought it was funny, but yes, totally crazy that they'd use sex in a flora advert!
It was more 'WTF?!' funny than hilarious funny.

UterusUterusGhali · 25/03/2014 22:20

It's really icky.

My 11yo dd told me about it before I saw it. She was horrified. I found it nasty too.

TossedSaladsAndScrambledEggs · 25/03/2014 22:23

Hate this advert. So juvenile, not funny.

Mydelilah · 25/03/2014 22:23

I've seen that ad and it is ewww, and cringeworthy to watch. Each time I see it, I wonder how it got through the focus groups!

livingatheendofthewall · 25/03/2014 23:33

Oh my god, YADNBU - I HATE this advert, it gives me the rage!
