Sorry, I haven't read the whole thread. I'd like to see the end of faith schools in this country, certainly, as I don't believe in segregation. However, it would be a good start if we could get rid of collective worship in schools which are not attached to a particular faith.
As someone who made a point of moving to an area where there were decent schools without religious affiliation, and who specifically chose to send dd to a very multicultural school, I was a bit taken aback to discover that collective worship of a broadly Christian nature was a requirement. I was not impressed when dd, at 4, came home and told me that Jesus was the light of the world. 
Where is the choice in that?
