To ask for advice on using EBay?

Not really a AIBU but posting here for traffic!

I'm an eBay newbie & have stupidly placed a small bid (£1.04) on an item that was listed with a postage price (around £6) before reading the description as it was the only one of this particular thing listed that wasn't shown as collect in person. I've then read the description in which it says 'collect in person', the only problem being that it's the other end of the country from me! It does say the seller will deliver if the buyer arranged delivery (how on earth am I supposed to do that? Surely they just go to the post office and post it?) it's quite a bulky item and might not cost the £6 to post that this seller had put on the first page of the item.

Am I able to retract my bid? I don't want the hassle of arranging delivery and I'm a little annoyed that the seller has put the item on as having £6 delivery charge (which I'd be happy to pay to get the item) to then only make it complicated. Every other example of this item I've seen for sale has 'seller won't deliver/coolest in person'. If this particular seller doesn't want the hassle of posting, why didn't they just do that??

Or should I just wait & hope the person who bid 99p yesterday comes back & increased their bid?

P.S I know it's my fault for not reading through everything first before bidding but like I say, I'm an eBay newbie & I didn't expect that the seller with give a price for delivery, only to want the item to be collected!

So what exactly are they charging £6 for if you have to collect?
What sort of thing is it? Some couriers are really very reasonable and though an item may be bulky, if it is not that heavy it may be cheap to post.
Id message them and clarify

I've just sent the seller a message asking them to clarify their expectations regarding delivery & politely pointed out that their advert is confusing. If they want it collecting, why put a postage price on the first page of the advert? It's an activity centre for DD so maybe bulky wasn't a good description (it's thankfully nothing like a wardrobe or sofa!) but it may cost a bit to post as I'd expect it's fairly heavy. Suppose will have to wait & see what the seller says.

I think it costs 5.80 to post something weighing upto 5kg with the courier I use and I have posted all manner of bulky toys and charge £6 for them so it might be right. If you do your search then click on 'completed listings' it will give you a better idea of what previous items have sold and been posted for

It may be that they will post or you can collect in person.
